Got it yesterday, installed it, messed around with it last night.

Simply fantastic. Maddox rendition of this theatre is without peer in the flight simm world. I flew the b25, a20, hellcat, tomahawk, corsair, toni and p400. Once again some truly excellent work.

I've seen the bug list but the botttom line is this is another product from these guys that is superb coming off the shelf. Maddox has nothing to apologize for. Hats off to the Maddox team and to Ubi for getting this puppy out the door!

It seems to me that the best work in the world will never be enough to counter somebody's pet peeve. If there's a bug, the 10 thousand folks who find it will produce 10 who think it's the worst travesty in the world

One of the reason that folks here dislike 'whiners' is that all the good stuff gets reduced to a microcosm in which the one thing that bugs somebody is the only bit of content that ever mattered.

Pointing out problems and issues doesn't have to be a 'whine', criticism can be constructive.

If more people were as objective as Nagual, there'd be a lot more agreement here

When I get PF, I'll be so busy I won't fly it for a few days. when I do, it will have to be crummy indeed to make me dwell on the bad versus the good.

But then again, I'd pay 40 bucks just for the H 81

I'm with you Nagual. I love PF. I was up until 3 am last night trying all the planes, trying carrier landings etc etc. I even love the blue menus and the cool music. I'll never be sorry for getting PF. It's way cool.

Then again i'm easy to please, and try not to whine over little stuff.

I love PF too! Carriers are great, new comm interface is great (I like Vector to Target!), new planes are great, new maps are great, opening canopies, ect ect, all is great!

A few teething problems, like not being able to set up the B-25 bombsight in full real because the bombsight inputs in metric but the instruments are all imperial.

Yep - PF is an absolute gem. I can't wait to get home from work and load it up again. So many interesting things to try.

Incidentally I've run this on two systems -

One is my home system -

p4 3.4
2 gig ddr
rad 9800pro
SATA drives etc.
all overclocked to varying degrees
Obviously runs great on that

Here at work, however, it runs very playably on an HP NX7000 Centrino laptop
1.6 centrino cpu
Rad 9200!!
1 gig ram.

amazing.

Yup, same here. I'm very impressed with it so far. I love the Ki-43s and can't wait to try the P-400 and early P-39s as well.

In fact could do with a broken leg to keep me off work for a few months to give it the justice it deserves. Now, where's that hammer...

Nagual, after all this time I still don t like you..,... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

LOL Just kidding, how are you mate long time no see you?

Well I love it to, but I have a question:
Why all the people that used to whine about the Ki84 1c don t say a word and fly so happily their F4U??? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It is the cure for the Ki84 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
(the only ki I didn't like is th eone with the 30mm cannons - too many people park that thing on it's tail and shoot you down from a kilometer away) We needed navy planes to turn http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good to see you too Skyghost!

Lbhskier:

No sharknose on any of the new ones - in fact the others are pretty conservative - but I sure like that p400 skin. Be sure and put your work up on il2skins. Also I heard more skins are coming in the online patch (they ran out of space on the CDroms)

Reminds me when I dislocated my ankle the day Grand Theft Auto Vice City came out. Terrible shame. Had to take 3 weeks off work.

I don't understand your point? I think most agreed the Ki was overmodled a bit. Has anybody said that about the Corsair? It seems a little slower than it should be to me. You also have no rear view to speak of. I like the P-47 better.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gifYep another fine product.
Got it on Saturday and although haven't flown carrier OPs.(To busy flying the Brilliant Beaufighter)I am totally in awe of OLEG and his Team.(Haven't touched a MS SIM since getting original IL2 when it first came out.
However as I thrive on anticipation........

Whens the patch coming out? Hee Hee!

Thats one of the first things I noticed, its rear view is terrible, I wonder if they ever considered putting a cut down back and teardrop shaped canopy on the Corsair?

I always wondered if the USN planes are like that so they have a stronger "spine" for carrier ops? Does anyone know?

WOLFMondo

Maybe, I'd not thought of that but then the best prop fighters were carrier fighters like the Bearcat and Seafury and a lesser extent the last Seafires all had cut down backs.

I'd like to thank Oleg Maddox and his team for a great job, I'd like to thank the good people of the earth and scold the bad ones..

I'd also like to give a special thanks to the plants and animals of the world, especially the one's I eat.. Thank you.

But most of all, I would like to thank my wife for giving me the opportunity to fly an extra two hours on a NO-Fly Night to check out my Pacific Fighters.

Without all of you, I would not be where I am today.. which is at work, typing on a forum while I should be paying bills and placing orders....

BuzzU

I found a way around the bad rear view, but you'll be pushing a lot of buttons.

It seems the raised seat view gives a good view out the rear. The problem is to get that view you have to turn on the gunsight (SHF-F1), open the canopy, and assign a button for raising the seat. A lot of work in the middle of combat.

In fact, teardrop hood variants of the Corsair (eg. Goodyear F2G) were developed, but did not see service: http://www.airrace.com/CorsairStatusList2.html

Got my game by Fedex yesterday, installed it, poked around in it abit, watched the carrier take-off and landing training tracks, jumped in the game and on my first try, landed the Corsair on the carrier.
I have to admit, as I made my final approach on the carrier, my heart was pounding and I was a nervous wreck by the time I shut the engine down!!! WOW! Great job,1C!
