Il2hk.exe worked on AEP, you had LW planes with historically accurate markings (swastikas). I recently finished downloading the merged install. Can anybody tell me if il2hk.exe is compatible with FB+AEP+PF? Thanks.

Yes it is.....I have used it since installing my vanilla boxed version of Forgotten Battles and it still works fine.

Shame that it does not work online though.

OK, it worked. I asked the question in the first place to ensure it doesn't lead to game crashes etc.

I used IL2HK with FB/PF right up until I installed "MAT Manager." Then I noticed that I had multiple versions of il2.exe (I think) running after closing the game a few times. It turns out that MAT Manager activates the Swazdikas also.

I highly recommend MAT Manager; the national insignias look much better than default plus you can customize fuselage markings, size of squadron markings, variations on national insignias by period, etc.

My .02 cents. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This matt manager sounds pretty cool.....where can I get it?

Does it work in a similar way to IL2HK with just a new launching exe?

Also does it need to be updated each time new aircraft are released?

Its a shame (I appreciate the reasons why though) the default skins dont have the hakencrauss/swastika as the German planes look odd without them.

In case you can't find the MAT Manager download: http://www.leigh-kemp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/MATfiles.htm

If you have PF 4.04m it is easy to install; it just takes a while for all the files to unpack. Once unpacked you'll have to point the manager to your game directory, but that's all. Standalone PF and FB+AEP (no PF 'merge') will take a little extra work to set up but there is thorough documentation on how to do it.

I don't think MAT Manager will ever need to be updated from its current version but then again I don't know what Leigh has planned. If there are new markings added to the game then I guess MAT Manager might get an update as well, but seriously ... even if a completely new nation was added to the game would it really be necessary to update the whole program? Leigh already has markings for nations like China that aren't int he default options.

MAT Manager replaces the 'stickers' on the planes with alternate versions created by third-party authors. You use a desktop interface panel to make your selections (you can choose presets based on theaters and periods as well) and then you save your settings. Every time you start the game after that those MATs are used unless you change them to something else. You can also go right back to default with the manager.

After using the replacement MATs I can't stand to look at the default. The replacements include 'dirtied up' versions that are just transparent enough that you can see panel lines underneath, and these are almost as good as having the national markings painted onto the skin texture itself. I also like that you can choose smaller versions of squadron insignia so they don't take up half the cowling anymore.
