I never post in these types of threads, usually because they are from a person in need of a little specialized forum attention, but being the limey bastard that you are, we SpitFire pilots and all-around Brit-whiners need to stick together and get more late-war boosted Spitfires into this game. Oh yeah and the Whirlwind, too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Spitfire Mk. VIII @ +25lb boost next!!!!!!

MWHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!!

(And yes, even though I'm merricken, the Spitfire has always been my favorite...followed closely by the P-51.)

Sometimes it is good to leave. I highly advise it. Stay away for say 2 weeks to a month, go do something worthwhile, then return, refreshed.

It`s something I do at intermittent periods. When the forums start to get to you, it`s very wise to take a break. Always.

To what purpose, leave? Let not the wars weary thee, but stand forth as a font of strength and do credit to thyself and thine as a man.

"The man of firm and righteous will,
No tyrant's brow whose frown may kill,
No rabble clamorous for the wrong,
Can shake the strength that makes him strong."
An old Roman poem.

I'll be sorry to see you go if you do, though.

My tips to avoid IL2 forum meltdown (especially during Patch/update times).

Seeing the clues:

1. When you start getting really annoyed with posters. I mean REALLY annoyed, like you`re thinking about them off the forum, at work, in the park, etc.

2. When you become affected by what is said (similar to 1) and you actually feel emotional (ie hurt, distressed).

3. If you feel you have to tell the forums your innermost problems that you know shouldn`t go here. Especially dangerous since just ONE tactless guy could put the boot in on your problem and ruin your whole day.

4. Don`t tell people you are about to leave and need convincing to stay. It shows a lack of will and dependence - you`re depending on the forumers to be nice to you to maje you come back. Big mistake.

5. Don`t say you`re leaving for good, UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU REALLY ARE. To be on the safe side just leave, then you don`t look like a jerk when you suddenly reappear 2 weeks or even 6 months later. People have long memories.

6. Never get attached to forumites, no matter how much you think you know `em. Unless, of course you know them for sure from meeting them in civvy land.

7. Never get into long diatribes with forumites, especially the ones who are used to the insult, put-down responses and those well know for simply not stopping. A lot of kids here have worked out that they don`t really need to say anything of substance, but can still keep typing ad-infintum. Some come with great dictionaries and phrase books to work out their next line of rubbish. When you realise this is turning into a babling circus - stop. Let them wear themselves out mentally, as they will. don`t let them try to bait you as they will.

Basically, if you feel the slightest kind of stress mentally, you should leave the forum and go, say nothing. Then return when you feel better 9and Human again) with no pressure in 2 weeks or even never. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Can you imagine the rate of flame-outs if we were allowed to go into politics? Local or world? Gladly we're stuck in history and the flame out of what happened during WW2. (Which directly formed almost every aspect of where we are today...) Boy am I glad I'll get banned for argueing politics anachronistically. Thank goodness...

Stick around, simply because there's no 'red' or 'blue', 'grey' or 'blue' or 'eagle' vs 'hawk' or 'chicken' vs dove, or whatnot BS pedistal anyone would like to make an issue of...

Just chat about aviation and quit the BS that's making you angry and go outside and practice your Ollies... Im 40 and still work my Ollies between learning about Hawk 75 and Ki-27s...

Mate, stay around. This place works as a sanity test. It's like when I visted a shrink lately.. "no abnormalities"... good to know right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Same with this place, if you sometimes think.. "wtf, who ARE these people - nah time to leave" you get a receipt that you too have no "abnormalities"... well not any major ones anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So if you won't stick around for the contents, then please do stay around for medical reasons.

Surely no-one gives a flying f!$# at rolling donut about the opinions and comments of a bunch of anonymous internet posters?!
(no, that's not "flying fish")
That is the one thing that really shocks me on these forums - when someone actually gets upset!

Look, what works for me is saying the word "trousers" a lot.
Especially when there is a patch due. For the trousers that is.
If that doesn't work try "Wankel rotory engine".
If you are still uptight then it is probably just you and it won't matter what you do. Which is quite liberating, actually.

LF I can understand your thinking about leaving this forum. If you post saying that on a clear day the sky is blue you will get a dozen replys why the the sky isn't blue on a clear day. You can do a ton of research on a subject and get another dozen replys that your research is wrong. You can post what you ate for breakfast and get a dozen replys that you didn't really eat what you thought you ate. So goes this forum
Take a break and come back when your ready, your contributions are valuable. Ok everyone give me your best shot on my post.........!!

Anyone know how many Spitfire Mk IIs were made?

SlickStick
02-02-2006, 02:03 PM
SPITFIRE II

Produced at the Castle Bromwich "shadow" factory rather than at the Supermarine works at Southampton, production of the mark II had just got into full swing when the Supermarine works were badly damaged by bombing. The mark II was powered by the more powerful MERLIN XII giving 1,175 hp increasing speed by some 10 mph. This may seem only a modest gain - but the Merlin XII used a Glycol/water mixture under pressure for cooling rather than the unpressurised pure Glycol system used on earlier Merlins. The new system removed heat from the engine more efficiently and made possible the later jumps in engine power of later Merlins. Armament was the same as the Mk I with different IIA and IIB versions with machine guns and cannons respectively.

Production was 750 mk IIA and 170 mk IIB.

yeah i know...still no luck (i've been at it for awhile) that plane hates me in so many ways. it's the only bird i routinely overheat in.

Funny enough, i've got to fly this thing for a squad match in the burning sands of North Africa. Lord have mercy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Ah. Your insight does you justice but it could be your undoing..... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry I've been slipping into silly film quote mode of late I think its my workmates. They are a bad influence on me.

Yes mate its the Real Air Simulation Spitfire Mk14 for FS2004 and chap it is unspeakably sexy. Its got the proper Griffon sound too but obviously you can't fight in it. It didn't occur to me until earlier that I could put multiple links into my sig so when I found out it got a bit out of hand.

Be honest, it was the pic of the Drama Queen that brought you back. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Low Flyer, if this was a publicity stunt, then you are better than Paris Hilton. Think about it. You didn´t even have to show your lack of breasts to get attention! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Paris´s metal skin held together with two rivets didn´t get the replies you got.
