I want to thank everyone who helped me sort out all the problems I had trying to get on Hyperlobby. I finally made it on last night, got my a$$ blasted off at least a dozen times, and am going for more tonight. I also actually made 3 kills too, so I don't think that's too bad.

I found almost everyone there to be a lot of fun and pretty understanding of a noobie. Anybody that hasn't tried on-line, you need to give it a try. It adds a whole other dimension to fly FB/PF.

I've got a question, though. I haven't been able to get Team Speak to work. Is it possible to use the voice comm in FB if everyone else is on Ventrillo or TS? If so, how.

Once again, thanks for the help. Catch you on my six!

Good to have online.

The Ingame voice comms only works with other pilots using it. Very Few Im hardly any do.

Ventrillo has to be used with Ventrillo users and you all have to be on the same Ventrillo server and channel.

Same with Teamspeak as with Ventrillo

When you say it won't work can you be more specific?

Congratulations! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif So where are you flying? I'm still trying to get a little more offline practice before sacrificing myself to the online gods. I'm also trying to get my CH gear set up properly.

I have kids & a busy job so unfortunately don't get too much practice time during the week. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Yeah, Hrinda, I can appreciate the busy part. I ranch, run a car wash, and am a volunteer fire fighter. I find about the only time I get to fly is after 10 P.M. when the wife goes to bed. I tried War Clouds, Greater Green, and one other one (can't remember off the top of my head). It's great! I thought I was doing pretty good off-line, but I found out last night, I've got a lot to learn.

Toad, I Dl'd the TS client, and I can get the pop-up window when I turn it on, but I'm not sure what to enter where it asks for address. I've got the Il-2 in-game comms working, so I know my mic works, but I also can't get any sound when I try recording. I'm working on it a little at a time. I'll get it figured out. I was just hoping that comms weren't dependant on which type you were using. I'm used to using radios in FD work, and I understand soft ware is different, but it's kind of like not being able to talk to someone because he uses a Motorola and I'm using a Vertex (I hope you understand what I'm trying to say).

Well, I'm off to find someone to shoot me down again.

Toad,
Thanks for the info. This does answer some of my questions. I'll work on it tomorrow (this) evening. I've been having such a good time getting shot down, I just noticed it's 2 a.m.

Another quickie. Unless things have changed in recent patches, you want to ensure that the voice comms switch in PF is set to "off" on the options screen if you want to use an external comms app like Teamspeak. Otherwise you'll get no output in Teamspeak.

Hrdina....

Don't worry about how much practice you need....just jump right on in!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Online play is more fun and far more rewarding than offline(imo). The first time you shoot down or avoid being shot down by a real person, the excitment and adrenaline go through the roof. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I enjoy online so much that I rarely play offline any more - just doesn't have the same immersion!
I would recommend using Teamspeak...having real wingmen just rocks!!!(trust me!).
Also,if you have the means, get Trackir....it will help your situational awareness immeasurably....online, you just HAVE to know what's going on around you - remember..lose sight...lose the fight!!
You will get your a#se handed to you at first....but you'll find your skill level goes up very quickly(your brain clicks into survival mode I guess!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Everyone who hasn't been online...try it...you wont regret it!

Toad, thanks for the great tutorial you put together for me. I was able to get TS up and running last night. WOW! What a difference voice comms make! I was tied up until late last night, so when I got on Warclouds, it was almost empty. There were only four of us on there for quite a while and we all chatted on the same channel. It was a BLAST!

From the posts I read here and other places, I am not the only one having trouble with some of the intricacies of getting on to Hyperlobby and setting up TS. It would be great if you could find a place (here or Airwarfare?) that would "sticky" a version of the tutorial. It REALLY help me.

Thanks, again Toad!

vocatx,

It was nice "meeting you" on WC coms, I certainly had a good time with you guys despite the few people on the server. You did well, and the truth is, I don't think there is much way to practice before coming online other than getting the basic airmanship and gunnery skills, after that the online realm is different enough, AI and people are different enough that you may end up needing to break habits you develop from flying against AI, instead of just learning those needed to do well in the on-line world from the outset. Of course on the same note, many things that workd against humans don't have the same effect on AI. In any case, you're off to a great start, and keep in mind that the servers you are picking to start online flying are just about the most competitive there are out there.

Thanks, EcoDragon. I really enjoyed last night, too. I knew from what I had read here that I was kind of jumping into the deep end, but I figured no matter where I started, I was going to take a beating as I moved up.

I was flying with Fish earlier on Spits v. 109 and we found something I AM good at....being bait for his guns. I am definitely hooked on on-line flying. There are some off-line campaigns I still want to try, but I really like being able to talk to my flight-mates.

Lining up right here!

I don't spend a lot of time on-line, but when I do... you can wheel me in, be sure!
(Should this be 'reel me in'?)

ehh, 'have been'? No, still am!
