Hi all,

I've been away in NZ for the last three months, normally East Coast US, and I'm finally going to be getting a new computer. I have to use a laptop, as I am away from home base for probably 6 months out of the year, and I like to take my work/games with me. So anyway, I have a few questions:

First off, most of the new laptops have widescreens. Can IL-2 be run in a 4:3 screen resolution, without stretching the view, so that the top and bottom of the view aren't cropped?

Second, what laptop would any of you recommend? I'm probably looking at a cap of less than 3,000 USD, preferably closer to 2,500. The Dell Inspiron 9300 seems like a pretty good choice. 2.13 Ghz Pentium M, 246 MB nVidia GeForce 6800. Widescreen UXGA 1920*1200 screen, etc... Does anyone have this computer and can recommend it? Does anyone know if the Pentium M works well for gaming?

Thanks all,
Chris

Chris it does run at 4:3 perfect. That laptop has plenty of power for this sim and I did a check on ebay and found a brand new one to buy at $2499.00 here (http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Inspiron-XPS-Gen-2-Gen2-2-13GHz-DVDRW-2GB-100GB_W0QQitemZ6802536944QQcategoryZ80208QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem)

Chris,
I too spend lots of time away and use a laptop. I currently have a hp zd8230. 3.4ghz p4, 128mb ati x600, 100 gb hard drive. Plus external tv tuner and 17" screen at 1440x900. Plays the game very well.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

Dave

I have the dell inspiron 9300 and it runs the merged version without a problem. The laptop is my work computer and I fly at home on a desktop, but I have tried it out a couple of times. Hope this helps.
