It has come to my attention that many people out there feel PF is incomplete, due to the lack of many things. After some careful research I€ve decided to compile a list of aircraft for the Pacific, European and Mediterranean theaters. I€ve taken a book of mine that to my knowledge, contains just about every military aircraft that flew during WWII and decided to create a list. Please note I am in no way involved with Oleg and team, nor do I feel a lot of this will ever get implemented. All I wish to accomplish is a completed list so that 1C:Maddox and the community can see exactly what people would like in future titles/patches/expansions?.

I do realize we have quite a few of these aircraft already, but I am still listing them for referencing purposes. Also note I ignored sub-variants to save space, but will list them as people request. I will keep a tally of what people €œvote€ for with the posts. So please just post and list what you€d like to see.

If we are talking the Pacific theatre, you have to have the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver.
It was one of the most numerous allied dive bombers of WWII. Between 1942 and 1945, some 7200 were built.
It wasn't a popular 'beast' with the pilots that flew it, but the Helldiver was responsible for destroying more Japanese targets than any other dive bomber!
Two 20mm cannon or four 0.50 Brownings in the wings, with a 0.50 in the rear, and could carry bombs, torpedoe or rockets.
For the US participants its a must!

Now that's a wish...

But how about planes build in Poland, France or Holland?

Thats a BIG list Zealot even if 1c wanted to model ALL those planes with third party help we'd probably be another 2 to 3 years easy. Many of those planes are very trivial and their overall role was insignificant I'll point out the most pertinant that should be at least AI.

Japanese:
D4Y (at one point maybe one was being made)
B6N (supposedly would be in 4.01, didn't happen)
A5M (pics in the dev. updates)
Ki-49 (i've seen pics floating around but no word, probably dropped)
G3M (notta peep)

Besides this I'm not familiar with all the Japanese types so I won't list any of the recon, night fighter or light bomber types.

American (copyright issues so we won't get any)

SB2C
TBD
OS2U
P-61
B-26

British (all these aircraft are arguable for their significance so this is just IMO)

Swordfish (was one in the works probably BoB if ever)
Meteor (never to my knowledge)
Sunderland (also never to my knowledge)
Walrus (saw some usage by the Dutch so it deserves a bid but I've never heard of one in the works)
Mosquito (supposedly for 4.01, done for 9 months now)
Lancaster (pipe dream)
Wellington (pipe dream)

Germany

Do335 (honestly I'm just putting it on here because its is supposed to be done, but it really wasn't very significant)
Hs 126 (never to my knowledge)
He 219 (never heard anything here either)
Ar234 (ditto)
Do17 (awhile back someone was on this, probably gave up by now)
Do217 (no word)
He177 (there was talk on netwings but its since been abandoned)

Russian

Haha hey guess what every one of those planes is in except for the IL10 which could possibly be in the Russia only add-on. BTW the IAR80 is a Romanian aircraft.

Italian

MC.200 (supposedly at least AI)
MC.205 (supposedly at least AI
Re.2000 (AI possibly flyable)
S.M.79 (was finished but too late for FB probably BoB)
BR.20 (was in dev. at one point probably dead, it was used a bit by the Japanese also against China)

If we got a third of those aircraft I would be exstatic!

Heck...I'd like to see some maps of the Solomons and the other half of New Guinea, philippines, Burma etc...but I know, alas, that maps are a huge undertaking!

Ships and Objects...PT boats, Frigates, liberty ships, barges, cruisers and other floating targets...how about an IJN sub! All damagable by guns and gun stations able to be silenced with strafing.

Don't forget some machine gun nests, people, beach obstacles...I'd love to see a horse and ammo cart for FB/AEP too!

Unfortunately PF had a great beginning but I think it is virtually dead already. I'm hoping Oleg will come out with one last add-on but its going to be light in the PTO side of things I think...oh for a ki-44, ki-45 and a flyable Avenger!

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Yeah, I don't think ALL OF THE PLANES on the above list need to be included, and I will update it later today (I've got a 4th of July party to attend). By the way, thanks for the updated list ImpStarDuece.

Dont forget the Westley Lysander!!!
Quite important in 1939-1940.
Used sporadically after that.

Slight correction: the D3A Val is already flyable, and the B5N Kate is AI. The TBD devestator is not in the game at all at the moment.

I would like to see the Bristol Beaufort and the Fairey Swordfish.

The Bristol, because of dual engine torpedo bombing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and the swordfish because it's just good looking.

I thought the J2M3 was defnitely going to be in the game at some point, and the N1K2-J was close to finished, but unsure if it would be added...at least thats what I gathered from an exchange with SaQson a while back...(geez, seems like every time I post here, it's about those 2 aircraft)

To be quite honest, a B-17 would be really wasted in PF/FB at the moment. The games' operating areas are way too small, and the graphics don't allow for the massive formations common in Europe. The only plausible historical use would be to represent the small 1942 raids flown on the New Guinea map.

Plus, no way we are going to get the B-17 at this late date with the mess Ubi made out of the American-planes copyright issue and the incredible number of stations it needs.

We really need an FB-quality bomber sim . . .

How about some things which might actually get done. Things which are essentially already in the game, like:

1. Adding some bomb and rocket loadouts to the Hurricane IIc. The required loadouts are already there for other ac and the bomb racks are modelled for the IIb. Needed so the allies have a legitimate CAS ac for the CBI theatre mid-war.

2. Likewise the 21 cm rockets could be added to the 109G. I know they were not popular with the 109 pilots, but at least it would be an option and it's something which already exists in the game.

3. Adding even a very basic cockpit for the Beaufighter observer/navigator. An option to mount the .303 in there would be good too.

4. Allowing the Betty rear gunner to remove that frame - like was done in RL. Would have been a lot less work to model that in the first place. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

5. Make the other B-25s flyable. If AI and human-flown FMs are now the same and cockpits are all done for the J, surely C & H could be made flyable? C lacks the tail gun - so just leave that cockpit out - and H has a solid nose - so leave those positions out. The H 'gunship' version would be useful for both Eastern Front and Pacific.

6. Likewise the later G4M - although this would need a new turret to replace the current flexible top gun.

I don't believe in the copyright issues, i think that they simply don't have the manpower to finish certain airplanes within a realistic timeframe.. of course they could start now and use 2-3 years to release a 100% finished product, but Ubi would be inpatient by then and they wouldn't receive any money and all that..

makin a BoB sim without the Dornier Do-17 is impossible, if Shockwave (they produce the BoB II: WoV) can make the Do-17 in the game (not flyable, but its an open game, so its realistic that somebody will make it flyable) then why can't Oleg and Co do it?

They can go and stuff it with that "copyright" problems..

I just hope that Oleg has the wits to make a proper battle of britain scenario this time (not that he have done it before) that means Dynamic weather (often i've heard of really bad weather in the pacific, yet i've never flown in bad weather during the missions in the campaign offline in PF) AI Can't see through clouds (Shockwave has already done this in BoB WoV) Try to solve the problem that the AI don't suffer from G-forces, its really laughable that they don't. Radar info from the Radar stations, Ground spotters, and at least a MUCH better offline campaign system, since the majority plays it offline due to several reasons..

I would like to see "resources" implemented properly, like if you just were a part of a squadron, and you receive news (which reminds me that it should be news in the game, newspapers report about significant actions) about the RAF or LW destruction (airbases, factories etc) so like if your commanders have managed to drain the LW's air forces, you might not bounce so large formations over the channel as you used to do when you started the campaign.

I would also like to see that you could be the overall commander of the air forces (you could also choose to fly whenever you wanted) so you could plan rhubarb missions and stuff like that. and you have to choose which aerodrome to be resupplied, giving certiain squadrons rest and so on.. features like that , i think would be ESSENTIAL to make a good sim when they release their next sim.. Just flying and not knowing what's next ain't rewarding at all in my opinion..

And all the other options regarding flying such as armoring (how to belt the bullets, ball-tracer-api etc) harmonizing the guns and all that should be implemented as well.

Yuck! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

If I wanted to play a strategy game I'd buy one. No - campaigns like that (see Rowan's "BoB") get a big Thumbs Down from me.

For me flying and not knowing what's coming next is the key part in immersion, in getting a feeling of what it must have been like as a simple pilot back then. Red Baron II had the best offline campaign IMO - that should be the role model, not "strategy campaigns" like in Rowan's BoB.

That would be great. You would need supply pipelines taht could be targeted, and could command other fighter squadrons. It could be 2 sims in one, as you could fly in it also. Lots of resources though...

Id like to see the sky lightened up a bit. I think thats a major issue still. It needs to be light blue....not deep blue of near space.

Yep, sky at 20 000 ft looks much like the sky from the ground. Why write extra coding for something that doesn't happen? Maybe where the SR-71 used to fly the sky was dark and you could see stars by day, but not where our FB/PF ac fly.
