I visited UK-dedicated last night.
It was a early war map(Russia). I went red (ususally I prefer blue), to even up teams. From plane roster I chosed the Mig-3. Added gunpods and went out for a hunt. As I headed for the front I trimmed the Mig for climb and looked over the ingame list. There were four He-111 on route somewhere. Reading the chat I realised three of them were flying together. I leveled out on 3000m and held a sharp lookout.

Some minutes later I saw two large spots down low on my port side. It was two of the Heinkels.
I pointed my nose towards the leading plane. I was gonna cross his path with some 80-90 degrees. A nice angles attack. At 300m distans I opened up and managed to give him a long burst along portside wing over cockpit and hit starboard engine too. I zoomed away and my pray flew smoking on his way to his target. Up at 1700m I saw the second He. As he now was closest to me I gave him the same treatment. When I zoomed away from him I realised somebody followed me and shot at me. It was a third Heinkel tryin to dogfight me! He followed me in the zoom to the point where he lost all controls and speed and began to fall. I then turned at him, gave him a long burst. It took out his controls and killed the pilot - Victory.

The two others were a bit from me now and I started persuing. There was a I-16 flying above me the whole time during these happenings.

-Now he sure is after the damaged Heinkels! went through my thoughts. -****ed!

I catched up nr 2 Heinkel, passed him to be able to make an angles off attack. I zoomed and boomed at him several times. Sideways from above or while I zoomed from belly side. Never to end up behind him and get killed. Suddenly I was attacked by a Bf-109. He managed to get some hits and got me smoking. - ****! that was that! I thought when the Bf went up in flames!
The I-16 guy had cleared my six! ~S~.
I took on what I´d begun with the Heinkel and saw him loosing hight all the time. One last long burst got him a fire all along the plane.
Down he went - Victory 2! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My engine let me know it was´nt gonna be long before it would give up! I headed for a nearby field. As I tried to lower the gear I realised the oleos were gone and I had to belly land. I succeeded and loved for another fight.

The most fantastic with this were that the I-16 guy never interfered with my attacks on the Heinkels but flew above to look out for attackers and at least ones cleared my six. Not a shot did he fire at my targets http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I saluted and thanked him for doing that.
It´s moments like these that makes it up for those times when one flyes on servers inhabited by cheaters, teamkillers and kill-stealing-point-*****s!

Salut to you, once again, if you read this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I was the turning heinkel too bad didnt drop my bombs 2xsc2000 was only 3 degrees away from good solution than you had another story to tell .) but i guess then you wouldnt tell it. Its surely an archivement to bring yourself in defensive situation against slow flying bombers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Your propably right, hyp. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But the thing that amazed me and made my experiance so good was indeed the behaviour of the I-16 pilot. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif
He had all the means, firepower, alt and distance, to make a pass on you guys...but he did´nt.

Actually a good place to be as shooting drags others to it like a dogs **** drags flys http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif
Well at spot they tend to be so target fixated it should make them easy targets. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

By the way good to hear there are others that play with true interesse.~S~ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

That I-16 is probably one of the regulars who flies on that server who knows what it is to cover someones rear while they make an attack.

A far too rare but sometimes more prevalent thing on the UK-D1 server.

Glad you had fun!

Yes he is one of the regulars and what i´ve seen about him is that he is´nt a kill stealer.

Gues it was von Keb, since he was the only I-16 around to score a kill.

If I had been in his place I'd probably have gone for the Heinkel, because the I-16 is better suited for the job and I would not have expected the MiG to be capable of downing two Heinkels at all...

Good job in this regard, but looks as if red lost the map nonetheless. I see room for improvements. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

confirmed..it was Von Keb.

No not if you attack them from six o´clock! With proper angles used to attack more damage can be done http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I fully agree with you here. The main goal is to take those He111's out before they reach the target regardless who damaged what. I sometimes feel sorry for guys that bite more then they can chew and be***ch at you when you help them.
In this case he should have attaked the bombers too.
Think what Stalin would have to say about him covering you and shooting a 109 while the one bomber you did not take in time blew up a large fuel depo and killed 100 man. Just my two cents.

Nice story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Ive seen you on UKD a few times, if you like team play just look out for guys like Defbond, Scrappy and Kaster for the reds and guys like Wild Weasel, Grey Mouser , Ice Fire and Ledspittincobra for the blues. There are countless good guys on both sides just chat on the chat bar or get on TS and you'll find a whole new level of team work.

This story is a great one and I am NOT surprised by it.

I€ve been fortunate to have flown with several of the UK Ded regular guys under competition circumstances and I can attest to many wonderful qualities about them. Of these, their approach to the game is exceptional and their team work is second to none€¦..truly a sight to behold as some of the recordings I have of them clearly denote. It is however, their character that has always stood out the most to me. Great folks, no question, and a huge asset to the community.

Kudos to you all!!

Yes...best bunch of guys around...I only would hope that UKDed2 could continue to draw similar folks and qualities....great map sets, historical planes, challenging scenario's and with Cockpit on setting in UK2...and cockpit off on UK1.

Lots of new players cut their teeth on UK too, and most who enjoy good company and good flying come back over and over...eventually becoming regulars themselves.

You'd be surprised how much experience that noob actually has. Just happens that players play for a cool moment and not for winning a war that is over for more than 60 years now.

It seems to be ingreasing somewhat, more and more ppl know when not to interfere and just hold look out but sometimes kill stealing and other less enjoyable events take too much of the fun - then I just leave http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

One other thing is when having a real nice dogfight with someone. A struggle that takes all of both participants skills and goes on for a good while....and WHAM!! Some bystander just zooms in and drops one of them! What an anticlimax that is http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif. On the other hand same situation but with an intended cooperation with a wingie with the same outcome is real nice! The main difference here is: In the first situation you were interfered by somebody who took advantage of your work to bind the opponent. You made the hard work - the other guy got all the benefit http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif.

In the second situation it is a co-work from witch both benefit. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
