Hi and welcome to the community http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

1. OpenGL is preferred by the majority (DirectX is a wrapper around OpenGL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

2. I'm guessing you are referring to UBI game service? There should be servers available on Hyperlobby (HL) although you may find the majority will be FB/AEP/PF merged servers. Consider getting a copy of FB gold, the price is going down and the plane set is worth it.

3. Dunno, can't answer that one for you.

Hyperlobby from here: http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/

I got FB Sturmovick but just wanted to play PF as stand alone rather than together.

If I install PF onto Sturmovick will it update Sturmovick to the latest patch as cant be bothered to download all of Sturmovick's patches at the mo http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yes, so long as you have AEP. PF has the patches on it for that.

You need Forgotten Battles plus the Ace Expansion Pack patched to version 2.04 to be able to install Pacific Fighters over it.

As the vast majority of the online community will be installing this way. The number of stand alone PF servers will be quite small, if there are any at all.

It is really worth the effort to get your game install done this way!

Welcome to the fray!!

I'm sure there will be some stand alone servers, but not as many as full version ones. The game is still quite new so have patience.

AEP is really really really worth the , $$, "" or whatever.

Trust me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Besides you will feel a little lonely, number of servers available is down to the US being deprived of PF for now (my sympathy guys) and you will be in a minority.

And the purchase will help 1C:Maddox too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Huh? Who told you that? Sorry, but you are mistaken. DirectX is NOT a wrapper for OpenGL. They are both completely independent of each other. DirectX does not have anything to do with OpenGL and does not make any OpenGL calls.

You can confirm this yourself by asking this question in the forums at http://www.gamedev.net or http://www.opengl.org.

They'll set you straight!
