I think its time for a server to set up a server where the battle of the gigants are held.

Latewar La7, Yak9, IL2 against Spit Mustang Jug and Dauntless.
Or earlywar I-16 agaist Hurri, F4F-4 and P-40.
Technology Orlikon and Colt against SHVak.
Polykarpov against Mitchell.

How about that, and what side do you think got the best planes?

Boo ya! I'm an American, but boys, I think I'd be stockin' the VVS in the pantry. YEAH YAK-1B!

They were not ment to fight each other. They spesialised in different altitude and tasks. VVS would have the edge low, RAF/USAF high.

But what if we had Luftwaffe against both, on eastern and western servers?

We got that already?! Jippi!!

- but where is the eastern servers nowadays...

the La's & Yak-3s are not the same ultimate low DFers they were in FB v1.x

in fact i find Yak-3s hard to shoot with & considering they have such low ammo count i put them in the expert catagory

regardless of DF ability

I did some tests regarding low altitude with low alt spit vs yak 3s and the spits one easy. The RAF and USAAF were no slouches at low level

I flew on Korean planeset DF server and it was fun. Spitfires, Ponys and Jugs vs Yaks and Las. I found Spit IX to be pretty good match for Yak9/Yak-3/La-7.

Performance is pretty similar most of the times limited by G-tolerance of virtual pilots. Simply - You make a mistake - you die, shvaks and hispanos are not as forgiving as mausers (at least until the 4.x patch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif).

In the right hands a SpitIX should be more than a match for anything.

The Luftwaffe acknowledged this and cautioned their pilots to avoid the Yak-3s. On the other side, Oleg and company have given the 109s more and more turning ability with each successive patch release. There is no real world justification for this either.

...and so it goes.

At Greater Green, we run a Korean mission that has the plane set that was spoke of.

In my opinion is it impossible to draw detailed comparisons from one combat simulator to another.
An AcesHigh FW190 isnt at all, the same as on in this game.

I think that the Jug and the "cats" are B&Z like FW and the P51:s are fast high-altitude fighters not so good on curv-fights, much like the Me:s.
They are agile crafts with good firepower. It would be fun to test the La7:s and Yaks against fullworthy oponents.

I still remember the times, when FB came out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Yak3 and LA7 were ufos, they did not loose speed in hard turns, they could outdive anything back then, .. reminds me of the Hurricane from FB 1.0, which climbed like K-4 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I am so glad, that now it needs atleast some skill to master the Yak3 (esspecially gunnery skills) . Besides most LW-pilots, who had to fight Yak-3s IRL, were mostly flying obsolete 109G6s.. most of the late war 109s and fockes were used western front http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif But Yak3 fighting a 109G6 at 5000 meters still should have hard time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Early war (1941, 1942) USAAF/UK vs VVS, would be most interesting.. however, Spits would most likely kick Yak's and LA5's arses http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Yak-9U is the first vvs-plane, which can equally fight Mustangs, and Jugs. LA-7 offcourse owns anything below 3000 (except Spit 9).. Looking forward to see VVS vs American/UK planeset http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
