No I'm kidding, some of you might remember this one hit wonder:

Opus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxqT3EvT4FU)

Found a wierd remake, lead singer resembles Oleg from far away (not close up thank goodness).

Life is Life remake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvRhOpqZO7I)

Group is called Laibach, a Slovenian Ramstein, good music to kill enemies by, I mean with the music.

Another wierd clip here:

Yeah, it's our capital, but still a "town" by international standards, having 'only' around 300.000 citizens.

My fav band in the rebel teen years.

laibach rules... 8^)

I saw them live the last time they came to Chicago.. Good stuff... As for them being like ramstein its more the other way around since they already had an album out back when he was learning to play scales on a plastic recorder. The best park about Laibach is that thay can take any weak song and give it a big pair of balls. I think the whole Nato album abd Jeasus Christ Superstar were devoted to the idea.

Me and my freinds often joke about how cool it would be if they did a childrens nursery rhyme album..

I am a little teatPOT! JA! JA! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A long time ago I was on inter rail in Balkans and Germany. In Ljubljana I almost went to see a Laibach gig though I'd never heard of them. A few hours before that I changed my mind (cherchez la femme...)and took a train northwards instead.

Later back home I mentioned that funny sounding band to a friend who's a walking encyclopedia of bands. "You should have gone", was his reply. "you'd have liked it. It's sorta gloomy and totalitarian, but in a good way".
He loaned me a couple of albums and what can I say, I was really peeved I didn't go see them. Next week I bought copies of those albums and it's been a steady relationship since then...

Spent the Easter weekend w/ the missus there and it was just sooo nice, the spring just started and all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Also dug the DC-6 on display at the airport - a great old propliner that one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hey, Laibach is hugely influential in Europe. Even if they robbed a song (Tanzen Mussolini) from the Deutsche Amerikanische Freundschaft... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Heh, I remember when the original "Life is Life" was released. Laibach is alright I guess; Neubaten and Young Gods are way better.

Hi,

I read this thread recently, and thought back to when I was in my late teens and heavily into the industrial scene and everything from its origins.

I was trying to think of other bands I was into around the time I got into Laibach.

Some of it was OTT cyber stuff like Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Front 242 and so on.

Some of it was On the Earache label.

Some of it was 'roots' industrial/electronic like 'Throbbing Gristle', Morton Subotnik (?), and this one by Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olU40fxAXZs

Regards.

Like Skinny Puppy, DAF, Throbbing Gristle, Neubauten etc.

Best "industrial" band by miles, and obscure as hell, are Chrome.

Anybody heard them? Waaaaaay before their time. Check out "Alien Soundtracks" or "Half Machine Lip Moves".

Also like Gang Of Four. But that's because I'm a Commie.
