Try Hidden and Dangerous 2 Deathsledge, much more depth in that one. Shame it'll never be as well known but it's a gem nonetheless.

Cheers,

it uses the Mafia engine which was also a very good game

It may be possible, but I doubt it. A flight sim doesn`t have the required `tunnel` parameters that COD has. Call of Duty is a great experience, agreed, but what it essentially does is ferry you from one spot to another by the hand, but MAKES you feel as if you are going there by your own choice: A bit like Democracy....

It`s very cleverly done.

A flight sim on the other hand would have much more trouble making you feel `free` yet keeping control on where you go and what you do.

I guess that I picture a first person game, where getting shot down means having to evade to the front so you can climb back into the cockpit. Along the way you get to use some weapons, figure out routes, and disguise your identity. Maybe getting help from friendly forces along the way. I think that the CFS3 trailer movie came close to saying what I would ultimately like to see, but not at the expense of good fm's, and dm's. Oh, yes . . . and graphics that do not need a NASA computer to get more than 7 fps.

I think the closest thing is BF1942 + Forgotten Hope Mod, pretty good

In May 1942, Nazi submarines sank two Mexican tankers, and Mexico declared war against the Axis powers. Thus forming the 201st Mexican Fighter Squadron equipped with the P-47D and sent to fight in the Pacific

I like COD but its too much of a kids game "hoppin rabbits" and it gets boring after playing the maps once.

I would love to see Operation flash point style wwii game with il2fb in the air, now that would be interesting with lots of ai on the ground

I think OFP would make a better combination.

hmm.. I am thinking more along the lines of a decent OFP/OFP2 mod =)

Just need better flight characterstics and FM for the OFP engine.

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

the biggest problem with OFPs flight model was not the physics but the view distance, dosnt matter if they had 100% accurate flying, it would be of no use as you could only see 500-2000 meters on most computers, it was fine for using guided weapons but anything involving you having to see the target was far to hard.

the trouble with such a project is reconciling the huge, sparsely detailed maps of FB with the tiny, incredibly detailed levels you see in Call of Duty and stuff.

If it DID work, you would have to do it BF1942 style i.e. with drivable jeeps, tanks, trucks, etc.

Imagine bailing or crashlanding after a dogfight, finding yourself in hostile territory, 'forcibly borrowing' a vehicle from someone using your sidearm, and then hauling *** back across the front into friendly arms so you could continue your campaign without reflying the mission.

However, with today's tech, it is impossible.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.
