hi Oleg

i was thinking about this & thought i might as well ask if its a possibility

would it be a possibility to release the other ju88 models that were made with the norway & burma maps that are coming later on?

Please at least the C-6 ground attack version. No bomber bay, no divebombing gunsight but Revi gunsight, 3xMG FF + 3x MG17, plus some fragmentation bombs. Even MG17 containers under the wings.

Oh yes, please!

Ju88C with cannons in the nose would be awesome! Maybe it would be easier to do now, that we finally have a flyable Ju88?

I think there were four models handed over to Oleg, the A-14, C-6 and a field mod version of some kind.

The C-6 would be cool, but so would the A-14, with torpedos!!

But I doubt we'll get them.

The first addon after the patch is supposed to have several PE-2 models. It would be very nice if this package also included several new Ju-88 models. "Bomber Expansion Pack".

Still, getting even this one model for free is great!

Actually, there were 7!

Ju 88A-4 "early"
Ju 88A-4 "late" (no dive brakes, 1 MG deleted in the front)
Ju 88A-13 "Gunboat" (ground-attack/close support)
Ju 88A-14 (MG/FF 20mm in lower nose)
Ju 88A-17 (Torpedo bomber version with lower gondola removed)
Ju 88C-6a Heavy-Zerstorer - 3 X MGFF 20mm + 3 MG17
Ju 88C-6a "Field Mod" (Heavy-Zerstorer with lower gondola removed. 1 X MGFF 20mm + 3 MG17)

My personal choice that I voiced soon after we were told we would not get them all was: (I would be very happy with the 3 following)

Ju 88A-4 "early"
Ju 88C-6a
Ju 88A-17

Didn't Oleg mention, that the 3rd party models would not be used?! The A4 we gonna get with the patch is the old model which we already have as AI.

I don't think we will ever get one of the later variants.

Designing the new cockpits would take a very long time, and all had different cockpits. The cockpit of the heavy nose armament versions of the Ju-88 were cramped because of the guns... There is a good picture in "Luftwaffe Album".

Frankly I am more interested in the performance of the flight model than the cockpits. I don't spend too much time paying attention to the graphical details of the dials when I am flying, but that is just me. If the planes that are only AI today because of lack of information in the cockpit or lack of time for designing had a generic cockpit/gon station/bomb aim, I'd be happy. But that is my simplistic view. I figure as long as the viewable area inside the cockpit is somwhat true then that is great (that is, the field of view from an Ar-234 is more explansive than a Bf-109E, for example), that way with the cockpit mode on, there would not be an unfair advantage compared to flying without a cockpit (video game mode), which has unrealistic field of view for ANY plane. To me an altimeter is an altimeter is an altimeter. (not that I disaprove of the video game mode, it is very good for quickly testing missions before publishing them . and sometimes, an arcade is all people want)

And that is my opinion only.

The C6 would be lovely. I'd pay for that easy.

The torpedo loadout could be added to the A-4. Few A-4 were modified to carry a torpedo. Though I believe there were also some minor modifications in the cockpit, it would be good not too unrealistic) to keep the current cockpit as it is.

I will be happy with the model we get as long as it's performance is correctly modled http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The A-4 modified for torpedo bombing didn't have the Lotfe 7 but a primitive "torpedo computer" in its place. I think given the lack of time Maddox Games has available I'd say that's a negligable thing. So http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif for the torpedo loadout on the Ju 88 A-4.

Try the beta. I'm simply dying to have guns in the nose, it seems so natural... Yet they aren't there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I am absolutely delighted with the A-4 and Pe-2---big dive bombers are great! What I would like to see would be Ju88C and G night fighters, and Lancasters to hunt. Also, operating radar gear so you can be the radar operator if you want.

A fixed forward firing 20mm (like many A-4 had) would be much appreciated.

Jippo and his team did some great work.

Question: what would we be able to attack with the C-6 version? I know it (and other cannon-armed attack planes) had its uses irl, but in FB there are much fewer 'soft' targets for that kind of armament, or am I missing something?

Planes amongst other things http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Dont confuse Ju-88 C6 with a (ground)attack plane. Henschel 129 etc was 'attackplane' or Schlachtflugzeug. Ju-88 C6 was a heavy fighter - Zerst√¬∂rer.

Thanks Olli. I knew I was missing something! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I do recall reading something about Ju-88's attacking B-17 formations but I actually thought it was a typo or something! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

How effective were they in that role btw?

They all were made. They won't be in game because of lack of time/interest/whatever:

Jippo and Co's Ju 88 website (http://www.ju88.equitatura.de/Index2.htm)

Jippo's C-6 cockpit (http://www.ju88.equitatura.de/ju88c6.htm)

they used night fighters in the daytime untill the longer range escorts chewed them up.

they where pretty effective aprently

how much ammo did the 20mm's have?

i guess a handy loadout of bombs would be useful too

JG53Frankyboy

a Torpedo loadout option would realy bring something goos to the gameplay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

even if the ‚ßd Modell or the cockpit instrumentation would not fit exactly to it......... well, we have more "not correct" loadouts already in the game , and i cant also see no Torpedo equipement in the He111H-6 pit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
lets forgett the correct PVC torpedo racks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

about a A-4fieldMod/A-14 with a 20mm MG-FF in the nose - no Lotfe sight than - i see no chance , even it would be fantastic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif . it would need a not small cockpit overhaul http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

a "solution" perhaps would be to ad the WB-81 weapons pods (each with 3x MG81Z , thats 6 guns !). And if , pls dont forget the possibility to use the gunpods AND bombs in the internal bomb bays http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

that would be also a formidable groundstrafer - close to an A-13.

Not effective at all.

Actually Ju 88 C-6 was mainly used as a nightfighter and long range fighter over ocean, thus "Zerst√¬∂rer". It was birefly used as a daylight bomber interceptor, but losses prevented this.

In the east it was used mainly as nightfighter and long range fighterbomber attacking railroads and other supply lines far behind enemy lines. C-6 would have fit that role magnifecently, but unfortunately that would not happen.

It will probably come as no surprise that I too would love to see a Zerstorer version - and any ground attacker version really - of the Ju-88. Twin-engined, lummoxish, heavy firepower? I`m there!
