Ok folks,

First let me say again, that this set of DLL`s contains fix for so-called black water( ATI 9800 series cards, when water=2).

Now Pay Attention.

Installation instructions are simple:

1) In your current IL2 directory, locate il2_core.dll, il2_corep4.dll and rename them to something else, like xil2_core.dll, xil2_corep4.dll
This way you can always go back to your original DLL`s if something goes wrong.

2) Unzip contents of the package into IL2 directory. Yes, unzip both dll`s, IL2 application knows which one to use based on the processor(instructions type)

**** IF YOU STILL NOT SURE HOW TO DO IT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK, OR DONT DO IT ALL****

You can download teh package here, at TX squadron ftp (thanks again boyz ):

ftp://www.txsquadron.com/patches/AtiFix3.zip

Note: This set of dll`s is compiled using newer method. The one that did not work for some of you when fix for text corruption was released. Yuri did not have time to get other version completed yet, but this one should work, i tested it. Game launches, no problem.
All previous fixes for ATI cards are incorporated into this dll set.

Enjoy and please do not forget to post your impressions back.

Ok, it works,,kinda. Its late and Im sure the rest of the guys with more time will give you more info. Water is still pretty dark. The reflections of the ships is on top and bottom and from a distance it makes a block shape over the ship. The same as the betas

I now have water :-D, also the colour doesn't seem to be overly dark. Not like the first release of ATI updated water 2 dlls

Seems to work fine. Can't see any performance increase over the old, old .dll's that worked nicely for ATI

Yes. It works. Whats the difference with this version? Is this faster or something? Compared to previous ones and beta? Should I see the difference?

Thanks and Godspeed lads!

The new dll's (13,02,05) have just changed my water=2 back to what it looked like in 4.02 and previous. (ugly flat blue with no ripples or reflections....at least its not transparent black though) so I am still using the beta dll's from december which apart from a couple of misplaced shadows on ships occasionally look really nice with water=2 (nice blue colour, ripples, reflections, the works). So I think i will stick with these at the moment.

I have a saphire radeon 9800pro 128mb using the 4.8 cat (prehistoric i know) drivers so the variations must be caused by differnt catalyst versions that people are using.

Thanks for the fix! It works fine with my 9800 and the 6.2 drivers - water=2 looks a lot more realistic. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Good work. I didn't test yet 262 and black sky but i dont have texture corruption now (at least i didnt saw it). Water is ok now but i generally use water=0. Last dll (3rd) also decrase micro pauses during online game.

Thank you, Yuri and Ivan for your diligent work on this. I no longer get the transparent/black water effect in water=2 perfect mode. I also have not seen any issues with text/display corruption. I do however get a few micro stutters (may just be that my machine cannot keep up with the processes) and also noticed a flickering/wavering of reflections in the distance, particularily when in horizontal turns (reflections lag behind the reflected object - again may be a result of needing a faster card/processor).

S! and, once again, thank you!

Water=2 looks great on my system now, thank you very much to those responsible! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I finally see the correct effect of sunlight flashing on the wavetops, a kind of twinkling that I can see out of my front window on most sunny days. I live on the Channel coast of England.

Splendid work!

Cheers,

Brando

Hi guys,
Thanks to the dev team for the add on and the follow-up of technical problems.
I'm using an ATI 9800 Pro card with the black water look. Got blue water back just changing HardwareShaders=0 to 1 ... not the best option though (still flickeing and like no aliasing at long distance, especially where water meets land.
I'll get those new-new dlls then and tell & picture you if necessary.
Turn war into game is 20th century best idea !

If I recall correctly the shorelines look like that because they AREN'T anti-aliased. I believe they are alpha textures and require SSAA (supersampling aa) and ati while have SSAA on higher end cards only do it for directX, not openGL, I don't know about nvidia....

is this fix before or after v4.03?
i was using these .dll's i think before i installed patch 4.03m. i've never had a water issue anyway, i just wanted the new water for ATI. since installing the new patch, i have no/black water, ( ie; water looks black but i can see the ships hulls and props.)
anyone know if i should use these .dll's after v4.03?

Hi Ruekesj
These dll's fixed my "no water" problem on my ATI 9600:

I only got the water problem after I installed 4.03
