Heyas!

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I asked you guys about what to upgrade my card to, Radeon 9800 Pro, or Nvidias 6600GT. In the end I chose the Radeon from all your comments, and I'm real happy with it, and for that reason decided to post some before and after screenshots to say thanks so here goes, lets hope this works:

My first BB hanging in the water after being hit under the kiel with two fish, one mid, one rear.

Third Fish did it, down she goes.

The leftovers, what I had to avoid to get out of there.
http://www.Efraxis.com/old3.jpg

The merchant happily chugging away on my exit from ths scene that I originaly headed for, before discovering the taskforce 5-6km away from it.

Night time before I managed t escape fully
http://www.Efraxis.com/old5.jpg

The ghost that the MX card users experience. It's in the middle of nowhere and as far as I can tell, isn't really supposed to be anything. The squares you see in the background are my wake.

And now for the new screenies:

First thing I did when my 9800 Pro arrive was test the plane shooting exam.

Then comes the sunrise purely for pretties
http://www.Efraxis.com/new2.jpg

Then I decided to make as much mess as possble by picking a single mission and surfacing in the middle of a warzone. Exciting, but suicidal stuff.

And lastly, A c2 cargo going down, scope view.

Thats all for now, hope those images worked out. Thanks again to those who answered me about the card comparison, it helped a lot, and as you can probably tell, I'm real happy with the result.

I'm having a Red Martini on you.

Grats on your new card, Fish. Huge difference between the two cards. It's like a new sim now, huh? Although the links don't link correctly, cut and paste works fine. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Grats again, and enjoy your new video card, as well as a whole new SH3 experience now too!

Good hunting.

LOL!

Well I just copied the first link and viewed the rest from there! Nice improvement, your old screenshots were pretty brutal! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The Ubi forums don't allow you to use HTML. So you have to use VBcode instead. It's pretty simple. Basically, you'll use the tags [ img][ /img] around the URL of the pick, without the space between the brackets.

So, your www.Efraxis.com/new3.jpg (http://www.Efraxis.com/new3.jpg) image becomes http://www.Efraxis.com/new3.jpg

The programmable shaders make a big difference, don't they? Actually, the game looked and behaved fairly well on a GF4Ti4200, but does much better on a GF6600GT OC, which is what I'm running now. Congratulations on your upgrade! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Fish, you've got to put the "http://" in front of the URL. Don't ask me why, but you have to.

lol got it, thankies Quillan. And thanks to you guys, I remember you guys posting before. Whoever invented pixel shaders deserves a medal, and whoever invented the MX cards needs um... I can't think of anything appropritate right now.

The ghosts were pretty cool though. If there's anyone out there thinking about upgrading and has an MX card, go for it. I couldn't afford the uberest stuff, but this was well worth the cash even though it was a stretch and took some time to arrive, so whatever you go for, Nvidia or ATI good luck, and take it from me it's worth it.

It not only transformed SH III, but every single other game in my collection too, from hitman contracts (pretty snowstorms!) to SW Republic Commando (Wohoo! It runs) to Nexus the Jupiter Incident. I could talk about it forever to be honest, but I won't :P

Take Care!
