There no cheats for SHIII(thankgod) and if there where I doubt any of us here would use them. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

The only way i believe you can cheat would be to mod certain things.
If you want to do a certain thing maybe you could go find a modder who would do it for you.

Other than that it's like WilhelmShulz said.

You can give yourself unlimited everything just by going to the little known hard to find "realism" section.

But shhhhhhhhh, you didn't hear it from me.

Openly criticising a fellow forum member is always a risky thing, but to start a thread entitled "Cheats Please" well, I'm confident I speak for the majority of the forum members here. If I'm wrong then fellow members are welcome to flame me.

Blacknight, If you have bought SH3 with the sole intention of compeleting it as fast as you can then you have bought the wrong game. You will never appreciate the depth and diversity the game can offer you if you intend to cheat your way through it. Yes there are a multitude of mods available which will enhance your gaming experience if you choose to use them, and most of us do, but that is up to you. Read through the various posts and follow the links fellow members kindly provide.

But to stroll into a forum and post "Cheats Please" with no explanation, no description of what you are finding difficult or need help with frankly, beggars belief. You'll win no friends here with posts like that.

That said, if you need guidance, help, or tips then just ask - be specific - we'll all gladly help you, to say nothing of the excellent community manual. I'd respectfully suggest you repost your question.

For the basic things that you're asking the community manual is really the best place to go.

Conserving torpedo's is just a matter of not taking shot's you either are not good enough to hhit with or stand a poor chance of the torpedo connecting properly.
If you don't have a good shot save your torpedo's until you do unless it's your only chance.

But as i said, the manual is the best place to go.

Try aiming for the engine room or fuel bunker of a merchant ship or if it is a warship you have the ammo bunker as an extra option.
I usualy get one shot kills with that.

The only real cheat in SH3 is the overly sensitive hydrophones, but this has been true in every subsim since Silent Service. In the video game sense hydrophones are more effective than surface search radar. I think this has to do with the way targets have historically spawned in subsims.

Luckily, this exploit is easily avoided. Just use the real tactics that the Germans used in WWII from the Uboat Commanders Handbook. Routine soundchecks at dawn and dusk!

Doing soundchecks every couple of hours doubles tonnage you will get over the course of a career, thereby cuts realism in half. On 100% realism, doing soundchecks every few hours is like playing on 50% realism. It effects tonnage more than Manual/Auto TDC.

And just by using this one real tactics, you will go a long way in getting realistic looking careers.

But if you want to just sink a boatload of ships, do soundchecks every few hours and you will find plenty of targets. Because targets are so easy to find with hydrophones, I would wait and save all my torps for the really juicy targets. Hold out for the tankers. They are the easiest to sink with only one torpedo, because the have a fairly high chance of going up in a fireball. Much of this depends on what mod you are using also. Remember, in a convoy, always try to target the tankers.

Do you know if any sub captains adhered to the 'handbook' - there were lots that threw the book out the 'window'.

Giving a person a 'long range' weapon and telling them not to use it, because it's unrealistic...... makes you think http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It is possible, but in every commander's memoir I have read: Topp, Prien, Cremer, Werner, Doenitz, and even Bucheim, they followed the Uboat Commanders Handbook verbatim.

Long range for a WWII computer is about 1000m. The Ladder Torpedoes etc were developed to allow torpedo hits at maximum range, but were not effective compared to "the close range surprise torpedo attack".
