unlock the Animus website launches! (http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/revelations/en-GB/news/index.aspx?c=tcm:21-26442&ct=tcm:6-231-32)

You may have defeated Templars by the thousand, swung across the rooftops of Florence, Venice and Rome, and you may think you're the ultimate assassin, but have you got what it takes to unlock the very secrets of the animus itself.

If you think you do, step forward! In order to celebrate the forthcoming release of Assassin's Creed: Revelations we've teamed with Computer and Videogames to offer the fans a very special Assassin's Creed prize.

For whomever succeeds in unlocking a new portion of the animus will win a trip to the historic city of Istanbul where key events in Assassin's Creed: Revelations take place.

If you are victorious in the final Unlock the animus challenge, you will receive a fantastic trip to Istanbul for yourself and a friend, including flights, four nights of hotel accommodation and 500 spending money and a chance to tour the beautiful and historic Constantinople of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods

Head on over to Computer & Video games (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/321117/do-you-dare-unlock-the-animus-mysterious-assassins-creed-site-goes-live/) to find out more!

I only had the last 3 left before I failed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Though I know what I'll be putting there next time... I wrote every scene down.

Also, if I'm not in the UK, can I still win? And how long do you have to wait before the next attempt? 24 hours or till 12 AM GMT? I wanna know if there's actually a secret unlocked at the end.

If you are struggling with the first strand, the next ones may be harder.. Remember you get one new puzzle a week http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You could always work in a team.. to crack these things - but there is a prize at the end for one lucky winner and a friend.. so what do you do...?

Anyway I'm doing this just for fun. I'm not English either, so I know I'm not gonna win anything. Ubi should make this contests worldwide and not just for a limited lucky people living in the UK, it isn't quite fair.

You all seem to be helping each other but the prize is for 'a' winner and friend, so really there is no point helping because your narrowing your winning chances down even more.

you can record the streaming video with real player if you have quicktime player or some other flash capture software, just make sure you record it the first time before it gets all messed up.

does anyone know how to unlock strand 2, if anyone had the answer that'd be cool but does anyone know the methd do you have to guess the code

Darak_BG
10-11-2011, 12:12 PM
Well strand 2 is a code where each symbol represents a letter.

As for the coded phrase well here's some help in three parts (attention spoilers in white, makes it harder to read but as the background isn't fully white its not truly invisible, shame I don't know how to put spoiler tags here the standard doesn't seem to work):

Part 1:

<span class="ev_code_WHITE">The coded phrase is: NULLA E REALE . TUTTO E LECITA . (the dots are dots in the code if I remember well)</span>

Part 2:

<span class="ev_code_WHITE">The phrase is written from left to right jumping line when ending the previous one </span>

Part 3: (This is the actual solution so only read if you don't feel like figuring it out yourself)

<span class="ev_code_WHITE">
Symbol 1 : X
Symbol 2 : Triangle oriented upwards with a dot in it
Symbol 3 : Triangle oriented upwards with smaller triangle oriented downwards
Symbol 4 : Same as 3
Symbol 5 : V
</span>

If you're having issues - you need to clear your browsers cache.
How you do that depends on the browser, but the browsers help files should tell you how to do that.

You may have to sign in again after - so make sure you know all of your passwords etc.

I dont want to give away the initial sequence but if you get it, dont try rolling it to these 2 sequences and applying them as they are wrong. They start with N4343465E....N4049740E.

EscoBlades
10-18-2011, 10:30 AM
Got the initial sequence easy....stuck at the cipher enumeration http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Collinwood01
10-18-2011, 10:36 AM
When I left the puzzle, I had 1 more try left. When I tried to go back, It said come back tomorrow. Daggummit!

EscoBlades
10-18-2011, 10:59 AM
I'm also on one try left and can't figure out the cipher.

Darak_BG
10-18-2011, 11:50 AM
That one is relatively easy though, the coin gives the key, the key applied to the roll gives the cipher, the cipher is the coordinate to a place (5 tries should be enough to guess as there aren't that many coordinates available on the roll once the key has been applied) the place helps to unlock the symbol which of course is linked to the ones we tend to oppose since episode 1.

I must say I liked these enigmas up to now, for once it's something I can tackle after a day at work without needing to stress myself.

Vice8641
10-18-2011, 12:09 PM
I really liked this one. I find the second one to be more difficult than this one, to be honest. :P
I was stuck the most at aligning the cipher, because I thought it wasn't the obvious solution when actually it was. >.< Here are some tips if you're having trouble

Tip 1: <span class="ev_code_WHITE">Like I said, the cipher alignment is the obvious solution. Look at the picture again.</span>
Tip 2: <span class="ev_code_WHITE">You'll notice that many lines start with N and have E in the middle. If you haven't played the Da Vinci disappearance, it may not be as obvious, but it's still quite easy to figure out.</span>
Tip 3: <span class="ev_code_WHITE">Also notice that they put a COPY function next to the lines, meaning they obviously wanted you to copy the text somewhere.</span>
Tip 4: <span class="ev_code_WHITE">Once you figure out how to check the lines for information, the solution should be fairly obvious.</span>

And if you don't feel like bothering with it and just want the wallpaper:

Solution: <span class="ev_code_WHITE">The cipher alignment is IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. The lines of codes are actually coordinates which, if put into a map program like Google Maps, point out to landmarks. The solution is N4100518E2858795 which points to the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.
Other locations include Jerusalem, Urbino, Monteriggioni, Venezia, Roma and Napoli.
The pattern recognition is very easy, in the end forming what looks like a templar cross (which deeply intrigued me :P).</span>

I'm not understanding how strands 2 and 3 work. I don't understand how a cipher works. How do you collect information from the picture in strand 3 and from those symbols in strand 2 to unlock it? Can someone please explain it to me so I can start solving them on my own?

Well, it helps if you know what cipher, or what kind of cipher, to look for, because there's more than one kind of cipher. For strand 2, do a quick search for Templar ciphers.

Strand 3 isn't related to 2, I don't think, so just focus on what they give you to work with in strand 3. I'll give you a little hint: cylinder. I hope it helps--I'm trying not to give away the answer! *even though it's pretty much covered here and elsewhere...* I figured you'd want to solve it on your own, though. I just searched for different kinds of ciphers on Google and went from there--Wikipedia, while not 100% reliable, was a great help in helping me crack some of these ciphers.

One thing I've noticed about all this... When they use ciphers in the game, they'll drop hints to help you break it. Here, there are no hints, thus making it more challenging. That, and the fact they can use more symbol-based ciphers in a browser game.

I also enjoyed this week's strand--it was the first one I was able to solve on the first try. Although solving the pattern recognition puzzle took way longer than it should have--I kept looking at it from a different angle, and the pattern was based on the angle provided in the picture.

I want to start off by saying that I didnt complete strand 3 on my own but I can help. In Mr Shades last post he tells you that strand 3 is up and to check out an article that might be interesting. This article has a hint in it, so read the article. The 1st thing you have to do to figure out the strand AFTER reading the article is look at a coin. The coin has an inscription. This is important. The 2nd thing you have to do is properly select a figure for each space in the enumeration by spinning the wheel and curiously the wheel has the same number of figures, going across, as there are letters in the inscription on the coin. Once you get this right, when you spin the wheel, the whole wheel will spin and move as one. You have to pick the right one to submit. You may not notice but some of these other enumerations look like global coordinates. This brings us back to the article that Mr Shade might be of interest. If you figure out the correct coordinates to submit, the rest will be easy. I hope I didnt give to much away.

You have to align the circles so that they make a Templar Cross.

And of course after posting that I manage to do it.

FlailingAmigo
10-20-2011, 11:09 AM
Yeah...it's not so much making a Templar Cross, it just happens to look that way.

Once you realise each circle is 12.5% you can sort of just wiggle them around 1 at a time until they fit

If you are looking at the aerial photo of the building then just make your circles line up just like the circles in the photo.

So where's the next challenge? I'm not eligible for the prize, but it's still fun. (Oh and BTW it's not cool to exclude almost the entire world from the contest, especially since some of us are actually much closer to Istanbul than the UK is, so it would cost less to send us there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).

It should be released sometime later today.

The fourth strand is very tricky! You have to create and place 5 bombs to move a ball into a maze and to look not to destroy the ball! I've already failed it!

cnccustoms
10-25-2011, 10:31 AM
This is kind of bs in my opinion. This isn't anything cryptic. It's a goofy game. All-be-it a challenging one, I've yet to complete it, but a let down none the less.

Darak_BG
10-25-2011, 11:54 AM
I must say strand 4 is no fun at all, placing those bombs then detonating them to get the ball on another platform is a quite random exercise, you might get the right bomb place it slightly left or right and the ball won't reach the intended platform at the intended place for the next launch, if the ball rolls slightly and falls on the wrong platform you have no way to skip that attempt to restart.

Considering there is no in game reward for completing the challenge and that trip isn't for me since I'm not living in the UK and I'm going to skip that one due to the fun not being there.

In my opinion this is a miss by Ubisoft in an otherwise very fun ARG.

Collinwood01

Even though I was unsuccessful in solving this strand, it was fun trying. What makes it hard is that you are mixing components that singularly you dont know what they do so how will you figure out what they do together before you run out of chances. Also, gravity is a factor. On my 1st attempt, I thought the map was laying flat so when the ball fell back down I saw that this was going to be harder than it looks.

I did manage it to complete the 4th strand also - but in the 5th try. it's a bit of luck in there and also a few math/pysics.
Spoiler:
<span class="ev_code_WHITE">Bomb1-4 : Shell 2 , Shrapnel 1 , Powder 2 (start count from left to right) place bomb one that way it flys up on the second layer leftsided. bomb 2-4 do the same but right sided. I didn't screenshot it but if you done that you should have catapulted your ball on the direct right upper area (that one which align with the portals lowest point.) for the fifth bomb try to use a strong device, placing it not under the ball but a bit more left to it. I know it sounds easy but there is still luck within it. also there is another solution that works but i prefered this one. good luck!</span>

A very logical strand with strand 5 which again confirms all the good the first three strands had me think of this arg (strand 4 doesn't count in my book).

The process is quite simple, you get the seals in the form they are intended to be, they are then scrambled and you have a limited number of moves to get them back in their original form. Once that is done you have to put the seals in order.

If you've done that you're done with strand 5 get the fifth strand screen capture, and a roll with strange characters on it which you will recognize from strand 2 (you also get a small video showing your goings through all strands but I'm unsure if you get it when you've done all strands or systematically at the execution of strand 5) if you wonder what that roll means it simply counts down the time to the next step in the puzzle and the symbols are simply there for days, hours and minutes (almost noted it down in case it was important before I realized what it was)

For those of you who are unwilling to go through the trouble of finding the solution you'll find it below in two parts (attention spoliers):

Aligning the disks:

<span class="ev_code_WHITE">In order align the bottom left, top right and top center, this will leave you with four disks aligned and the bottom left having its outer disk one quarter turn away from being aligned.

Then do the following:

- bottom left rotate outer disk counter clockwise one quarter turn
- top right re-align the seal by moving the middle disk
- top left re-align the seal by moving the center disk

As you can see you will end this combo with again 4 disks aligned and your bottom left disk will have his outer circle rotated one quarter turn clockwise compared to the beginning of the manipulation, you thus just need to repeat the manipulation another two times until it too is aligned
</span>

Placing the seals in order:

<span class="ev_code_WHITE">From 1 to 5 the order is
1 : top right
2 : top center
3 : top left
4 : bottom left
5 : bottom right
</span>

I have figured out a bit faster and easier solution.

Phase 1: http://i.imgur.com/stHeq.jpg
CCW stands for counter-clockwise and CW is clockwise. The one you have to turn two times you can, obviously, turn whichever way you want.

Phase 2: http://i.imgur.com/B6g7a.jpg

After that (SPOILER, though not quite!) I was presented with the laggiest video I have ever viewed in my life. It was so laggy that I'm not actually sure whether it was a video or just a series of images appearing in irregular intervals. I'm going to try solving it again tomorrow, there will probably be less traffic then.
It basically sums up the strands you've solved so far, and gives you a cryptic image at the end. At least I think it's cryptic, could also just be meaningless. :P

Thanks for the help, Darak. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I've been using that solution for the past week, to no avail. I either screw up the first or the second bomb. Even if I can get the ball up to the platform with the first bomb, it rolls way too far to the left, and I don't know what to do. I can't do it exactly the way the screenshots in the wiki forum link show. How did you manage to get the ball to not roll so far to the left on the first shot?

Kytr
11-02-2011, 09:47 AM
The first bomb is placed almost on top of the ball (just a little to the right of center). It took me a couple of tries to get that right, but once you get it, repeating is easy. The next 3 bombs are all placed further from the center (and to the left) in about the same place in each case.

AdmiralPerry
11-02-2011, 09:57 AM
Ugh, I've about had it with Strand 4. I was shut out from one of my attempts because the ball was invisible. It was there, because I damaged it, but I couldn't actually see it. Talk about frustrating.

I get what you're saying about placing the bomb almost on top of the ball, but repeating it is NOT as easy as you say it is. Not for me, anyway. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I'm running out of time.

Kytr
11-02-2011, 10:08 AM
Unfortunately, that strand is very sensitive and being just a little off can break everything. If you look at the bomb as you are moving it around, you will see a horizontal line bisecting it. That is where the bomb will sit once you place it. There is a vertical line from the horizontal up. That shows the center of the bomb. Use that to determine exactly where you are placing it. It helps with getting the placement correct.

It's curious how they did it... Do any budding geneticists know the relevance of Cytosine + Guanine and Guanine + Cytosine? I thought I was going to have to work out Adenine and Thymine...

Regardless, I filmed the completion message from Shaun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NluzW5ukuJw

Once you've finished the sequencing, you have to type in some details and then this plays. Then you get redirected to the usual screen with wallpapers and a countdown, this time to Revelations.

Ubisoft is just screwing with us...they are doing this crash with purpose. So nobody will complete it. Only the first ones. The thing is, I have been on the unlocktheanimus page at 4 o'clock exactly when the mastermind challenge appeared but it won't let me solve it. And then again some more crashes that needed some cookies to be deleted and I did not know. So they are nothing but templars who try do deceive us.

For users in the UK it should be working though..

Can I suggest you clear your cache in the browser - and try again.

If you are still having problems and are based in the UK can you also please post your ISP - since it may be down to something beyond your control and I want to pass on those details.
