I don't think she was going to actually get herself killed...

Yes, the people who come up with these ideas rarely lead by example http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Didn`t the guy who created the Kamikaze idea in WWII eventually go himself?

Lieutenant General Onishi, the creator of kamikaze tactics, killed himself at the end of war by thrusting a knife to his stomach.
General Ugaki, the supervisor of the kamikaze operations, flew a Judy with a volunteer to Okinawa into US fleet but it crashed before it could reach the target

Sepukku! What a gentleman!

A pity their whole army didn't feel the need to prove their manliness by shoving a letter opener in their gut. Would have saved a lot of our boys' lives.

I believe she was the main test pilot for the flyable V-1. I got the impression that she would have flown a suicide mission if they Germans had pursued the manned V-1 program. The squadron commander eventually decided suicide missions were not honorable and cancelled the V-1 mission(s) and replaced them with Mistels. Hmmm..... Not sure there was much difference.
