I have FB and AEP, if I buy and merge PF, does the merger add anything to FB? Or do I actually play PF with new European features? I'm asking because with my current setup, PF pushes my system capabilities. I'm willing to buy it now if it improves FB. I do plan to eventually upgrade and pickup any and all games to this series.

Thanks.

The merged install adds the PF content to FB

All campaigns, single missions, skins, and maps are now run through FB

To merge PF with FB, you also need the Aces Expansion Pack

Awesome! That's the reply I was hoping for.
Yeah, I've got the Gold Pack. I'm going to buy a copy of PF on my way home today.

I've been gunning them ever since Sid Meir came out with F-15 Strike Eagle (the 4 color one!). I'm late to the IL-2 party, but I hope to catch up fast.

Yes.. get PF and merge it to your FB+AEP. Instead of just being limited to playing either FB or PF, you can know play them both at the same time.. in essence.

There are some graphic tweaks (new clouds; reduced muzzle flash) and added features (human gunners; new water settings; new FMs) that retroactively apply to most FB+AEP material. Various mission makers (like Starshoy and his BOE updates) make use of Pacific Fighters planes for the Eastern Front and Western Europe maps. Finally, there are lots of planes and objects in the patches that are intended for the older maps. Here's a list of 'gains' you get by merging PF and patches to FB+AEP:
