Interesting.

What AV proggy? AVG, Norton, McAffee? And do you have the newest
definition file for it?

What server did you get your patch from?

Just about to download, am interested.

Mine says they're clean. It's not unusual for AV software to generate false alerts on software that includes network functions. If you're concerned, ask your AV software provider to examine the offending file more closely.

I had no warning from AVG. All seems normal.

Backdoor.Win32.Snart.g description:
Backdoor.Win32.Snart.g is related to Backdoor. After some files are copied to your PC, backdoor sends hacker information about your system. Backdoors connect using rare ports. Parasite explores system vulnerability and reports it to hacker. Using vulnerability holes hacker can take over the control of your computer. Do not hesitate and remove backdoor parasites using anti-spyware software.

Some AV software companies take "dontions
' from tracking vendors to overlook their "good" ah...cookies, we'll call them
Even moreso on free download this or that.
Nothing is free, if someone is hosting a free download for a something the size of the patch, why? Cause they're good guys giving away bandwidth?

Sorry guys should have given more details but was in hurry go fly, I'm sure you understand.

Ok, it was actualy "eTrust PestPatrol" that found it, and I DL from the UBI server, not a mirror.

It popped up the warning as soon as I clicked on the patch exe, and it said the backdoor was in the exe.

Could it be UBI??

I d/l 4.02m from UBI and didn't receive any warnings. I've just run Pest Patrol and all is clear.
So no idea why you should be getting this.

I€ve used a half dozen or so spyware progs and epestpatrol was the only one to classify cookies from Ubi as spyware. I know they don€t track any personal info other than make the logon possible. Check it out if you want but I wouldn€t be concerned.

If it was cookies from Ubi, every anti-spyware proggy I've run picks them up ... I ignore them as quarantine/deleting them result in:

a. I have to log on manually to Ubi next time I vist

b. I have to allow them or my logon wont be succesful next time I visit

c. They come back next time I visit.

As it's no secret that I'm here more than occasionally (see my post count http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) I don't see any reason not to put them on the ignore list.
