answers are up...
"Always prefer 109K-4, but also like very much I-185 and Spits. Sometime I like to fly I-153P if there are early scenarios or on server are novices on more late types of aircraft "
so, i take it that oleg likes to humiliate people in a I-153 then?!

I'm tending to the idea he's winding us up there...about the Ib that is.

I like the fact that we'll have two online modes, one with static objects only like il2 dogfight is now and an online dogfight mode with AI controlled moving object! Can we say moving ships in online dogfight servers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Now you see the possibilities http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. I can see one of the target airfields in a scripted DF server just a-buzz with ai planes moving about the feild like they are rearming or something, convoys of supply trucks moving from one base to another, ships coming into port and leaving, ai planes coming and going on unrelated tasks outside the DF area, etc.

I'm actually a big fan of the DCS and used to fly on Kadin's often. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But, as I'm sure you know this is different because it's the best of both worlds. This sounds more like coop-lite if you will with the benifit of coming and going like DF. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Yes, that is cool - historically accurate. BUT would you want to fly it after the jamming novelty wears off???

I can just see the chatbox now: "You're lucky my cannons jammed n00b!" etc.

seems he's still hesitant about the icing on the cake features' questions, but Im really thrilled with most of his answers. I am happy there is a certain control over what can be user made or not, especially after the recent debacle.

Some interesting questions were asked but some not so much.

A few interesting things learned such as the ability to enter into a COOP after its already started and take the place of an AI. Also that the takeoff code is totally new so presumably the whole "on the ground" aspect is much more detailed and complex. Also interesting on some of the plane type choices made...Spitfire Ib but no Spitfire Mark II (I wonder why). Could be that they are being more selective in the variants selected although I quite enjoy IL-2s massed number of variations.

Some good stuff in there anyways.

Some great news there.

I really love the idea of manning crewstations with players. I always wanted that since I played Janes Longbow and after it was announced for TheMighty8th II, but not included in the final.

The ground thing was one of the typical Oleg answers. He'd make a perfect Yoda - we'll never know if he just meant takeoff or groundhandling in general or maybe even the modelling of the bumpy grass. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

What I don't understand is why Evgeny keeps repeating the same questions from the forums about IL2. No further work on IL2. I bet Oleg has a T-Shirt with that written all over. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

He never said it will be in COOP.

Remenber there will be a dogfight mode with AI enabled in SoW.

So maybe it will be only in dogfight, or both in dogfight and COOP... we must ask the question to know.

This is the number one main reason I'm looking forward to SoW. Look how good Il2 is and the code was never designed to do what they have made it do. Can you imagine what kind of add on an upgrades and improvements will be made over the life of SoW with the code having been designed to do that from the start?! I'm pretty sure we'll be playing some form of SoW ten or more years from now because of the flexability of the code they are making based on all they have learned in Il2. I can only imagine how much fun they are having as programmers, having been so limited by the Il2 code to be able to start over and make the game they wanted Il2 to be after it's success. I'm sure we're all familiar with the expression "If I knew then what I know now...", well guess what, they know!

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif

They fiddled around so much and gathered loads of informations and charts over the years and they managed to get so many things working in the game, that originally weren't even considered! That's what makes me most optimistic about SoW and no matter when it will be released, it WILL be the dawn of a new era in flightsims.

I wonder if any of the missions developed for il2 will work in BOB? I have hundreds of coops on file.

Probably not.

I saw somebody request that the FMB be like the "competent" MS CFS2 fmb. Obviously this guy never even opened the CFS2 FMB, or he'd know that it was a piece of poorly designed, unfinished garbage, much like the MS sim itself.

Yeah, it had triggers, but they almost never worked right. I won't take the 500 words it would take to just list a few of the problems with that thing, but you do not want the FMB in the new sim to have anything at all in common with some of Bill Gates unfinished garbage.

Fortunately, Oleg said it would be similiar to the one we have but with improvements like triggers that actually work.

It would help if more of the people the questions came from actually knew something about what they were talking about.
