as i played through both ac1 and 2 i realized that altair's blade in assassins creed 2 isnt the last one that al mualim rewards you with. its actually the second last.
in fact, the last sword al mualim gives you is actually called the florentine falchion (i think. i discovered this a while back and didnt have time to post it. doesnt matter but i thought i might as well post it here

Hmm maybe we should kill every bearded man walking around in AC:B http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

It's actually the Old Syrian sword in AC2. And can somebody tell me why a common butcher's knife is better and more expensive than a good double-edged dagger? And why noblewoman Caterina Sforza lugs one around instead of a more refined weapon? Ubis attention to detail on the weapons isn't much better than Infinity Wards...

Maybe the Devs have Pogonophobia, and are expressing it by forcing you to slaughter the bearded

The Old Syrian Sword is old. It's lost it's effectiveness, and it isn't Altair's sword, it's just a sword that looks like it. The Syrian Sword was made for high ranking assassin's, the Old Syrian Sword is just a regular Syrian Sword, although less effective.

Well, the reason that it's "The sword of Altair" is because it is the most notable sword used throughout the game. It has an eagle head at the bottom of the grips, and was used by the other assassins around Masyaf.

funny how a 300+ year old sword is better than swords that were just made. and hammers.
