Czeching out info on the SB2C I came across information on torpedo drop tests with tis aircraft.

Using the Mk 13-2 aerial torpedo with drag ring fitted the reccomended drop speed was 200 knots, and this could be increased to 250-275 knots! Release of the torpedo in a dive was not attempted, but a dive was used to approach to the level drop phase.

A torpcker diving into a pullout and delivery a that speed would have been hard to stop!

The whole project was dropped (pun?) as 13.5 hours of work was needed to convert the plane to torpedo configuration, and then back to bomber configuration.

Pretty high speed drops available! Altitude not specified, but probably 150 ft or so.
