The full gore setting doesn't actually have any effect on the game, unfortunately.

'Deadmeat' answers a question about full gore. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Yep, I'm in the right forum. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I can't remember the setting but what I do remember is that it didn't work in my game. Later, I heard that is was only with certain planes.

There is a setting for it in the conf.ini
Look for HighGore=0 and change it to 1. I cannot remember all the planes it effects, but the Il2 is one of them. You can see your rear gunner slump over when hit. Some 109 variants have blood splatter on the canopy glass as well...on externals only though. I don't know of any others specifically, but there are some.

I wonder if anyone has made screenies of this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Hi all,

This function was disabled a few patches ago.

It only applied to the MBR-2 floatplane, the He 111 and the Me 109. In the 109, the pilot slumped forward with a blood stained cockpit http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I know some people don't like it but I'm a sucker for full realism.. BoB should have the Pilot be modeled with damage model linked to the rest of the plane. Like when you get messages such as "Headhunter has destroyed Stiletto's aileron controls!" It could also say something like "Headhunter has destroyed Stiletto's kidneys" if the bullets fly through your kidneys hit box.. Well maybe not say it, thats a little too arcade, but I think you get the idea, that if you had a fully modeled human anatomy inside that would greatly effect your pilots perfomance, health, and how quickly they perish. It's something that I want to see in racing sims, such as in a career mode, you might be out for 4 races in a season with a broken wrist, but unfortunatley it is still too taboo. Though I think in rFactor it would be possible to add the driver to the damage modeling of the car.. I am getting off topic..

I'd rather have oleg and co spend time developing the rest of the game than the pilot's anatomy.

I thought that I might like the full gore settings but found that they look a bit hokey. Of course it's only a personal opinion, but I think the game is better off without the full gore settings.

Looking at FabianFred's screenshots, it's pretty clear that the author(s) have no idea how blood travels if it's leaking out of an a/c flying at 200+ km/h. In the IL-2shot it's running [B]down[/B the fuselage, rather than being blown backwards. In the Storch it looks as though it's been applied with a paint-roller to every wall of the rear cabin and is wildly over-red.
The German bomber views are about the best (of a poor bunch) but without any damage to the perspex it makes no sense anyway.

Conversely the PBY gunners display no gore at all and no nacelle damage, so maybe they've sunk a bottle of redeye and are sleeping it off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Only the last two shots have any veracity for me, although the last is over bloody. Has nobody seen blood spilled in real life?

can you explain how to do this in detail???
also how to backit up (is there a risk of corrupting it?)

I'm really glad I never noticed that. The amount of blood looks like there are 20 liters being spilled in the cockpit or sticking to the fuselage in large puddles, defying gravity or airflow completely.

The other thing HighGore=1 does is enable the more graphic messages from the netmessages.properties file.

@b2spirita, make a back-up of the file first by just right-clicking on it and selcting "Copy", then "Paste" it into another folder. Then, open the conf.ini file in the Main folder with a text editor such as Notepad and change the 0 to a 1 for the HighGore= line. Save the file.

That's why i bet they never applied this fully in the sim...Too much work to render blood spillage. Looks like Oleg and crew wanted this initially, or it was just an after-thought by one of his team and they just left it...They actually could of left the dead pilot simulated without the blood, but no biggy. Tho that splatter in the nose of that He-111 looks pretty goodhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

i just put it on and i think it looks way better personally to fly over a 111 in a hurricane and see the gunner slumped over, way more immersive, cant see the blood tho.. wonder why??

btw what does the 'arcade' setting do? i switched it to one (1) and nothing happened...

b2spirita,
When arcade=1, you see bullet strikes and explosive particles shown with directional arrows. So, aim at a target and fire...

Of course, any changes you make to conf.ini only take effect the next time the game's started.

Hi all,

Ever heard of Photoshop?

The pics for instance of the il2 Gunner with blood flowing down the fuselage never existed. I've been flying this sim since 2001.

Doesn't make me a hero but I know when I'm right.

Best Regards,

Those are real but you need to have made other "changes" for them to show up. I've seen them all in the pics posted except for the russian biplane.

If you look at the bf109 pilot close in this thread you see the splatter also.

I wish full gore were fully activated, even if the blood wasn't shown. It's damn hard to tell when you've killed someone in game, especially since sometimes the planes just keep flying straight. If I could fly alongside the guy and see him slumped over the controls I think it would improve gameplay.
