Hi all

After a long time, I deceided to buy a new PC - more or less only for playing combat flight sims - and of course mainly for playing the IL-2 series.

Can someone let me know if this PC will be good enough to play Battle of Britain. Mainly I want do know if the graphic card is going to be good enough.

Many thanks for your feedback

Michael.

Should be ok. But who really knows, the game is not even out yet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Edit: Im counting on my 6800 to be able to run the game for a bit before upgrading. Like I said, its hard to tell what the performance of our machines will be like with SOW, just wait and see.

Nobody knows the answer to your question but Oleg. Anything else is pure speculation. Time will tell.

It's relative. Consider that IL2 will run on a PIII with a 64mb video card and 768mb RAM (my first IL2 rig), then I'd have to say that a machine built with top-notch hardware right now should be able to run BoB just fine in a year.

The real question is "Will it run it well?

"Will it run it well in max quality settings?".......................

the issue is not "will it run BoB" at what level will it run, alot of PC's will run it at low, med, or high...your spec look like it will be between high medium and high.

It will run BOB just fine, but as people have already said you will probably have to run at medium + settings.

BOB sales would be weak if your system had trouble running BOB.

Most game developers including Oleg understand how to set up options for people with weaker systems to be able to run their product. Intel, Nvidia, and AMD should have to give Oleg a percentage of their profit for all upgrading we will be doing to run BOB at near maximum settings. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oleg has already stated that if your rig will run Il2 WELL on perfect settings it will run BoB on minimum to medium settings. What Oleg means by "well" for Il2 is anyones guess. Does that mean 30-35 fps, 40-50, even 60 or more? What is "well" exactly for Il2. Some people are happy with 35 fps on perfect settings. Me, I like keeping it at 60. That's what I paid the big bucks for. Even then Il2 sometimes drops down below that.

I hope thats Vista 64 bit, otherwise that 4 gigs of ram will be a waste....

Quad core and you can only get 60?

Maybe I should save my cash for a bit longer ...

This game does not support multiple cores, quad will net great improvements in other games and future software though.

ah, of course... So what games/sims supports Quad core at the moment?

I don't know them all but I know theres Halflife 2, and most of the newer games benefit to some degree or another. Do a google search, theres a list somewhere, at work right now so I can't link you.

That's a nice system. Since it's newer technology, I'd hope that the coding of SoW_BoB would have long been established and now maybe growing a bit "old in the tooth" by now. Meaning: SoW_BoB has been sitting around for so long now that newer machines have caught up with it. I can only hope. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
