Disaster on the Frontiers (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=1763) upgrades the standard dynamic campaign generator with a series of nineteen Eastern Front DGen campaigns from 1941-45. The campaigns and templates included with the game are not affected.

Each 'Disaster' campaign has an new custom-built template with many more targets than the originals. Moving targets stay moving when under attack, and there are more of them in the attack area; stationary targets are larger and placed near cover. The campaigns also have individualised air operations and frontlines, simulating the course of the actual battles they represent.

There are three major improvements in the latest version:
-I've added the German MG42, which has replaced some of the heavier German flak in the early campaigns, so Shturmoviks should get more advantage from armour.
-Many of the more barren pre-'45 airfields have added detail. This uses up the DGen object limit, so if you land at other than your base the airfield may only be half-complete. I've also experimented with trenches.
-I've reworked the fighter ops. There will be fewer fighter-bombers, with escorts, to lessen the problem of fighters persisting with ground attack when engaged. There should also be more and larger engagements- especially at Kursk.

I've tried to start both German and Soviet campaign in the older version of "Disaster..." in 1944 but the Kurland map won't load. Any clue?

Kurland was only available to Ostfront owners in the previous version. It should work in 2.1.

I see. Is it possible to simply install this version over the older one and replace the old files?

Yes, just unzip and overwrite. With ongoing campaigns there's the occasional problem, nothing that isn't easy to fix. Remember to save your user and missions/campaigns/xx folders to be able to recover those that do need slight alterations.

As the most common example, if you're playing Belgorod42 you need to open the 'damage' file and replace any shot-down 109G2s with F4s as there are no longer any G2's on the map. But this only applies if you're in the midst of a Belgorod42 campaign, not if your career is at an earlier or later stage.

Disaster on the Frontiers has maps not present in standard DGen campaigns- Kursk '41, Belgorod '42 and Smolensk '43. The campaigns also include the newer Soviet flyables, the Pe-2, A-20C and Il-10, and all of the updated Eastern Front flak.

The campaigns are fairly short, making it possible to complete one (or more) even when flying in Dead-is-Dead mode.

Thanks. If we get Kiev, Bessarabia or Slovakia for DGen I'll make another set of templates, otherwise I'm going to rest for a while!

I've updated the download. Two ops files for one of the campaigns that I'd revised were missing- though the versions that were present will still generate missions.
