SH4 .. Love It ..

I am trying to!

We must have been spoiled by SH3 even the base one, tension , the hunt for the convoys the atmosphere in your uboat.

This is not about how many torps or bugs those are given's in a new game, but here compared to SH3 its a chore. I get no feeling on finding a ship or a convoy, apart of it could be even though you know you have 20+ torps on board USS Gar, so what you know that it takes at least 4 live ones to sink 1 ship.

And its not so much about japanese DD's, in SH3 I would just about dance a jig if I found a convoy with no escort. I was the icing on the cake for all those heavy sea chases with a lone ship to kill. But your uboat felt Alive! you were part of crew a team, and I think that above all sums it up.

In my boat in SH4, I feel alone a one man crew, there is no atmosphere here like in my Uboat.

When I;m hunting in my uboat I feel alive surrounded by mates, my crew I'm living it. I get none of this from SH4.

Good point! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I think there should be an option for "perfect" torps in the realism settings, so that it only takes 1-2 torps to sink a large ship. I think 7-14 torps for 1 battleship is a bit much, and I have fired 10 and hit 9 at a medium merchant and still it stayed afloat. The US subs are worse than a IIA with the amount of torps it takes to sink one ship. If the Gar holds 20 torps and it takes half or over half of them to sink 1 ship, that is like only have 2 torps in SHIII to play with. I know the US torps were not as efficient as the German ones, but give me a break! This is insane! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Matter of fact, I'm so displeased with the current torpedo power, that I am going to resort to temporarily modfying the torp file to adjust their power so that it only takes 1-2 to sink a medium merchant. Of course this means that it will take less torps to sink a BB and CV as well.

You guys using impact shots or trying to set em' off under the keel?

Put one or two under the keel, light em' up topside with some HE rounds... there's not a ship in the world that won't sink. I didn't even have any problems with that massive 19k ton ocean liner.
