Hi guys as its suddenly winter here in teh Uk and freezing i shall be seeing much more of the inside of my house and i decided to delete some junk off my computer and re-install silent hunter.

The questions i have for all you dudes and dudettes is which is the definitive mod? I have never really used mods before and i want something which is easy to install (one .exe over the original would be nice) and is great fun. Im a fan of realism but not 4 day deck gun reloads http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

So please leave hints and ideas and links.

Thanks again you all rock, and im already starting to get excited about the new game!

GW every time, with SH3 Commander and the 'Ships' mod courtesy of Bunkerrat for me. If GW is slow or jerky, reduce the particle density to 75% and try again.

I reduced it to 40% and it's running like a breeze. Of course most of those graphics are wasted on me anyway as I only get to see them very occasionally thru the peri or on the bridge, but they are IN FREAKIN CREDIBLE !!! This game is BEEautiful !!!

Only one thing I have'nt seen any new ships yet and I installed the BR mod last night. The recognition manual is the same as GW 1.1. Is that normal ?

Easy as cake.

1. Download all files to the same folder on your hardisk.
2. Double click the .exe file that has been downloaded to that folder.
3. Go get a beer, put on some tunes.
4. Launch game.

2 questions:

I expect I'll not be able to continue my current stock-SHIII campaign after installing GW? I'll have to begin a new campaign, right?

Also, GW's webpage downloader seems to have a "bandwidth limit" problem. They're also hitting me up for a donation. I may decide to donate, but first I'd like to try the game. Is there an alternate download site?

wow, Hi Dom (if you're still about after a couple of weeks), hi everyone!

I thought I'd just jump in to this thread and say hello, especially to the "old-timers". It seems like a long time now since we were getting increasingly excited about the imminent release of SH3, and counting the days down... it's good to see all the old names again, and there's many I don't recognize at all.

A bit of a coincedence, too, because I very recently formatted my computer, and just today I've re-installed SH3, and after some perusal of these forums decided to install the GW mod too. Haven't had chance to start a career yet (I may do that tonight), but at first glance doing a training mission, it seems very nice.

Good to be back in the u-boats again!

GW hands down is the best I have seen yet! The game is completely new with this mod. It is very large but easy to install...it installs automatically. I have not stopped playing the game since I made the install of this mod.

Ii´s very early to give a opinion by me, but yesterday I have started to work with the NYGM and after read the manual and done the first steps in a new patrol , must say this add-on had a lot of potential. The features reworked and the new ones expected in the new 2.2 are really very welcome also, mainly for this flak style "Star Wars".The manual description about the features reworked is very complete and go in detail in many of the specific weakest point finded in SHIII.And, (yes, that´s secondary...I know)I like the "look" , the U-552 of Topp in the main screen, the way of interpret the realism settings, etc.
