Firstly Thanks Oleg for this wonderful Simulator, as soon as I heard IL2 was in the making I couldnt wait to purchase it. It is by far the greatest Flight Sim ever. I have bought Il2, FB, AEP, PF , Comabt Over Europe and Battle over Europe and will continue to buy all add-ons etc.
IS there any chance of making the planes able to refuel and re-arm? I think this would greatly increase the immersion and realism of the simulator.

Well you can hit refly or wait around for 1/2 an hour while your ground crew comes out and re-arms.Maybe even get a beer at the officers club while you are waiting.

Other sims have had this option and it was alot of fun. Hitting refly and respawning in another location is boring. It would be nice to have the option to rearm and refuel and be able to set the time it takes to do so. It was great fun on another sim nursing your busted up aircraft back to base with an enemy still trying to kill ya. Land...takeoff and shoot the bastich down. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Its not realistic but hitting Refly is even less realistic. Anyway it was alot of fun....something even this great sim could use more of.

It would be really immersive if there were power-ups hiding under bridges. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

one thing it would cure are the pauses on respawn...

when people are shot down, they need to reappear, but if someone lands in perfect plane (or at least in something related to a plane) and was able to repair, refuel and reload guns on base without exiting and respawning, it would remove, at least the respawn pauses for him

Yeah, if you want to set around for 30 minutes or more in a dogfight server, while everyone else is flying, and risk getting ground killed, then maybe Oleg will do it for you. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Great topic Sandbags, but Oleg has always said No~Way~No. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif This was the first Question I asked when I signed up last year, here, at teh ubi.com.

Re~arm and Re~Fuel would be needed in the next generation of flight sims that have Dynamic Mission Builder that can create squadron sorties during the game based upon losses and damage suffered by aircraft on previous sorties. Basically, an in-game running Mission Builder that has its own "air command" AI.

During the first days of November, the Romanian Henschel pilots practically saved the 24th Infantry Division, which was retreating followed closely by Soviet forces. They managed to fly about 15-16 missions per day each! No other Romanian group made as many sorties in one day, as the 8th Assault Group did then. There was always a patrula (Romanian for Schwarm) in the air covering the infantrymen. Thus they managed to rescue the lives of more than 10,000 men. Five assault aircraft were lost, as were two pilots. The other three were rescued by their comrades.

It would be really immersive to watch the arcade gamers here who know nothing of WW2 aviation post the same old "Re~Arm Re~Fuel" jokes against real life Romanian pilots. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hurri rearms, refuels, and replenishes O2 in about 12 minutes, versus the Spit I's roughly 20 minutes.

That's one reason the Hurri won the Battle of Britain, and not the Spitfire http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

And....Bf~109s intercepted incoming B~17s, landed to Re~Arm and Re~Fuel, and took off again to intercept the bombers on their way home. With P~51 strafers patrolling the FB sky, it would be deep scary immersion to be sitting exposed on your airfield with your pants down not being able to takeoff because you are not refueled yet.

Sure would make the BoB camp even more interesting!

The problem is that most people who are asking for the re-arm re-fuel think it would be some instant thing. If it took 15 minutes to a half an hour like in real life I would say include it, but how many people are going to use that feature?

Yes. That is why we need/have Time skip option.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

respawn is like jumpin from your spent plane, into another "fresh" plane, for me atleast

It would be great to have as an option.. the ability to respawn in coops or even dogfights for that matter, without leaving the map... however I wouldnt want this feature in real time... lets face it.. unless you are retired, unemployed(between jobs.. or whatever) ,on vacation or just a lazy sim addicted bastage... you dont have the time to enjoy the sim and wait around for 12 minutes in your chair each time you want to rearm. Im all for realism but I wont put a fan with a spray bottle on my desk to simulate wind across the deck. My time is precious.. I loose enough sleep doing all this stuff as it is so Ill be d@med if I would want to sit around just waiting. Its hard enough for me to wait for the coops to end when I go down early in the action. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Its all about just having the option. I like the idea of having to taxi to a hard stand for rearming. As opposed to just stopping as quickly as you can on the runway and hitting refly. Maybe the option will be available in BOB although Oleg doesn't seem to keen on whole idea.

Another solution should be "change plane". It was proposed before but I think it can be made with a twist. In dogfight servers the teams start with a pool of planes. Ok, is not realistic to instant repair ur aircraft, but you could land with your empty or damaged aircraft and put it in a repair area and change it. There it stays (exposed to vulching) before its fixed or rearmed. After the "realistic" time has passed you or someone else could take that plane back to fight. It should be a merged solution between "refly" and "repair-rearm". But it will take precious time to implement. Plus most dogfights ends because of pilots deaths not lack of airplanes... kinda like the real airwar.

But stop saying that refly is more realistic than instant repairing. None of them can be.

DOnt laugh guys. I flew in a sim that allowed you to rearm and refuel on a "rearm pad". It was nice to be able to fly long distances, land refuel and depart again and continue the route. The main problem in PF is the small maps that prevent this from being an issue. Also, the game also had a fuel manager that allowed the host to multiply fuel consumption thus the need for refueling.

This would be a nice addition for those that like to fly other than "Furball" sorties.
