Can anyone give me a link to a training video or some advice on how to accurately drop a bomb from a fighter, had a look around and cannot find any.

The usual method is a shallow-dive, glide bombing approach. At the point of bomb release, aim your plane's velocity vector at a point in space above the target from which a vertically-falling object would take the same amount of time to fall onto the target as it will take you to pass over it.

In other words, if you will pass over the target two seconds after bomb release, then visualize the equivalent point directly above the target from which it would take a bomb that same two seconds to fall (starting from zero vertical velocity). Aim your plane at that point.

Note that the gun sight reticle is not necessarily the same as the plane's direction of motion. Side slip or extra angle of attack due to loading or slow speed will put the velocity vector off boresight. To get a better feel for this, practice with the so-called Wonder Woman view (cockpit off). There you'll see a "floating" pipper, which is your plane's velocity vector, or its instantaneous direction of travel through space. Use the VV pipper to guide your aim point.

No, there weren't HUD-like pippers back then. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif It was a feature added a while back (probably with 4.0, i.e., Pacific Fighters release) to aid in carrier landings. But it's overall a great tool to learn aircraft behavior during various maneuvers. For example, pull back hard on the stick and the pipper will drop quite low below the plane's centerline. This is a direct indication of the increased angle of attack, that is, the plane's attitude with respect to the airflow hitting the wings.

Typhoon had a special ground attack gunsight mode...I think some other types did as well but we don't have that modeled. Some of the German dive bombers do have a primitive bomb release sight that is actually extremely accurate (both in RL and in-game) given the technology involved. Its explained in one of the PDF's on the DVD. Look for Stuvi gunsight.

For fighter bombing the best is to approach from an angle in a shallow dive and time out the bomb drop. Usually if you time it right and have a good feel for the angle you can place the bombs relatively accurately. Best to practice the method allot and you'll get it. The low level fly into their face style of attack I prefer means flying at near ground level and dropping the bomb just moments before it disappears from view under your engine cowling. This is only to be done with a bomb delay timer of at least 2 seconds but better to have 3 seconds. At best you put the bomb right on target or failing that it bounces into the target. At worst it bounces past the target and you get a proximity blast which might also take out the target or do damage to something nearby. Disadvantage is extreme close range exposure to flak so you have to fly a complicated pattern and have a bit of luck/be crazy to pull it off.
