these would have been used when flooding ,fire

yes even had a little workshop lathe milling machine
in her for some crew to do minor repairs, when needed.

this weapon was called a hedge hog from ww2,
used to cripple and try destroy uboats , was a british invention from ww2, dds would fire salvos
off these in a area thought a uboat was lurking.

the uss ling never really saw any combat,
ww2 finished by the time she was sent out
to sea, heres a pic of her doing sea trials
date is july 1945..
