4000lbs?

That would be similar to a German SC2000, would it?

Any pictures of a sovjet FAB-5000?

Not exactly, the "Cookie" was technically a HC (High Capacity) bomb with thin walls and lots of explosives stuffed into it, while the German SC series were General Purpose bombs, with moderately thick walls and explosive content. Such GP bombs were good for most purposes because of their better integrity and more reliable operation, iirc a fairly high percantage of the "cookies" failed to detonate because the bomb simply fell apart upon impact on anything hard. Ie. they meant for light stuctures.

The German equivalent of the Brit HC bombs were the SB series (GroBladungsbomb) with apprx. 75% explosive content, but I am not sure wheter there was a 4000lbs (ca1800 kg) sized one in that series, a 2500kg one, however, the SB 2500, existed and used by for example He 177s during their raids over England.

I have 17" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
Thx for posting anyway I don't mind the scrolling http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
BTW refresh rate or even the size of the moniter is not the issue, resolution is. If you keep your big baby at 1600x1200 ofcourse you did not have to scroll, but if luftluver keeps his at 1280x1024 although on the same sized monitor he will have to scroll...

The Mossie carried an array of 4000lbs weight weapons. Apart from the HC (High Capacity) 4000lbs cookie/blockbuster, it was also able to carry the more streamlined 4000lbs MC (Medium Capacity) bomb. It was predominantly dropped at low level with a 11 second fuse, but could be dropped from high altitude, owing to its better accuracy than the blunt featured 4000lbs 'cookie'. In addition to this there were 2 different 4000lbs target marking incendiaries; 'Red Spot' which was a mixed incendiary/target marker and 'Pink Pansy' which came in an array of differnt colours for specific marking.

The USAAF also trialed 2 x 2000lbs GP bombs in in the bulged bomb-bay, as well as 1 x 1000lbs GP bomb on each wing, on their reverse lend-lease Mosquitos. Neither load out was ever used in combat.

6 500lb bombs could also be carried internally on an Avro carrier. As far as I know this was never combined with 2 500lbs under the wings. Nor, as far as I know, was the Avro carrier and 6 500lbs used on long range missions (e.g. Germany). 4 500lbs and 2 wing tanks was the more common loadout, or a Cookie and tanks.

No Brain, 1600x1200 does not help in viewing the whole posted pics.

OT: get Opera as browser. Lots of extras and its smaller and much faster/stable/secure than Explorer and I prefer it to Firefor too.
In Opera I easily downsize (pressing + or -) to view such pictures. F11 (full screen with no bars it was like reading the book that was scanned)
