Assuming you perform a proper post-defrag install, is there any difference in the FPS between a joint FB+ACE+PF install over just a PF solo install?

My FPS in PF is less than stellar and I was wondering if a solo install would bring it up a bit.

You can try, but I think not. It will be the same afaik. However, defrag before install will help a bit. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Mighty interesting subject!

Me thinks no one has ever checked this.
I haven't for sure. Well, I could however. I've got both of 'm installed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But, my PF standalone is not yet patched up to 4.01 ....

Thinking about it: No. It will not make any difference. Why not? Basic game code is the same. Merged just has more maps, more objects. So, when using those more objects, Merged will be slower. But, how can you compare this? You can't, as PF does not have them extra objects http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Well, you've made me curious for sure ... I'll start downloading them patches right now... will get back later... with some 'results'

Have Fun!

Okay, I tested it ...

Using Kamikaze02.ntrk, in-game FPS counter
No difference.
Same average FPS ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
(P4 2.4Ghz, 1Ghz, 9800Pro, Excellent settings)

Have Fun!

Same in my experience (assuming same mission conditions...)

Thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I get decent FPS in PF, but I'd love to bump it up a bit. Oh well, just have to wait for the IL2 Bunny to bring me one of those 7800 cards.

Reading this made me think of another option I had heard about. I've heard of some people installing ILS/AEP/PF on a different partition than their main drive. Has anyone done this have any test results comparing this to a regular install? I would be interested in seeing test results from that.

Oops.
You either just classified my 'test' as being useless, or I have a quick answer for you:
-No change in FPS-
Why? My Merged install is on a different partition (D), and the stand alone is on the system partition (C) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

My merged install is on a different partition, so when I re-install windows, I do not have to re-install IL2-AEP-PF.
(Installing IL2 on a different physical disk might speed up loading times, will hardly have any effect on FPS)

Have Fun!

I've had installs all over my 3 hdd's. It makes no difference to fps but in some cases may make a minor difference to game load time if the installation is on a different physical drive to the OS.
