Hi, guys!

I've just purchased new Cyborg X joy. I've configured it for Il-2 1946 game-play purpose using Saitek profiler. I'd like to share my settings with you and get some feedback about its functionality in response. Here you are:

HOTAS:

X Axis = Aileron
Y Axis = Elevator
Twist = Rudder
POW = Snap views as a mouse set at one third sensitivity for both exes
Throttle 1 = Power
Throttle 2 = Prop pitch

Unshifted keys:

Trigger = Fire 1+2
Button 2 = Fire 3
Button 3 = Flaps down
Button 4 = Fire 4
Button 5 = Flaps up
Button 6 = Mixture up
Button 7 = Supercharger up
Button 8 = Gear
Button 9 = Center view
Button 10 = Boost
Button 11 = Radiator
Scroll Up = Zoom in
Scroll Down = Zoom out

Shifted keys:

Trigger = empty
Button 2 = Rudder trim left
Button 3 = Rudder trim right
Button 4 = Aileron trim left
Button 5 = Aileron trim right
Button 6 = Mixture down
Button 7 = Supercharger down
Button 8 = Aerobrakes
Button 9 = Bombsight view
Button 10 = Empty
Button 11 = Empty
Scroll Up = Elevator trim up
Scroll Down = Elevator trim down

***EDIT***

Joy mapping corrected in-line with advised settings.

Hi! Here are some tips I would find useful:

Set your hat switch to emulate mouse. That way you will get smooth panning. And set one button as 'Instant view forward' so you can center the view quickly.

I would also map MGs and cannons to separate buttons. With some planes it's important to be able to use only one at a time.

Magnetos are hardly necessary to map in the stick, they are so rarely used (if ever).

Hi, again!

Yes, POW working as a mouse is a great idea. However I cannot map centering view function so easily. It only works if I switch to Snap View by pressing F9 key but not in default Pan View mode. How to correct this?

Besides I removed magneto control from my stick and I'd like to map center view on Button 8. I must consider entire fire buttons mapping issue because in Il-2 there are five firing modes - a bit too much in my opinion.

***EDIT***

OK, I managed to set Snap view in the conf.ini file (viewSet=32; Snap view - even number, Pan view - odd number). Moreover I transfered to Button 8 my Button 9 assigned functions to bring all flight control buttons together and mapped unshifted Button 9 as center view and shifted Button 9 as Bomsight view.

Remaining thing is to assign proper fire modes to each button.

About view centering, if you assign a button to "Look forward" command in the control menu, you don't have to use snap view.

I'd set the fire buttons so that the trigger fires MGs and thumb button fires cannons. Perhaps you could map rockets and bombs to one button (with the shift function).

Aileron trim is not of primary importance in my opinion, most planes don't even have it available. What you should have assigned, however, is gunsight view.

Of course, these are only my preferences...

I already reworked my profile supposedly in-line with your tips and I got something like this:

HOTAS:

X Axis = Aileron
Y Axis = Elevator
Twist = Rudder
POW = Snap views as a mouse set at one third sensitivity for both exes
Throttle 1 = Power
Throttle 2 = Flaps

Unshifted keys:

Trigger = Fire 2
Button 2 = Fire 1
Button 3 = Fire 3
Button 4 = Fire 4
Button 5 = Center View
Button 6 = Supercharger up
Button 7 = Pitch Prop up
Button 8 = Mixture up
Button 9 = Gear
Button 10 = Boost
Button 11 = Radiator
Scroll Up = Zoom in
Scroll Down = Zoom out

Shifted keys:

Trigger = empty
Button 2 = Rudder trim left
Button 3 = Rudder trim right
Button 4 = Aileron trim left
Button 5 = Aileron trim right
Button 6 = Supercharger down
Button 7 = Pitch Prop down
Button 8 = Mixture down
Button 9 = Aerobrakes
Button 10 = Empty
Button 11 = Empty
Scroll Up = Elevator trim up
Scroll Down = Elevator trim down

However I noticed there are so many flyable planes in Il-2 1946 with such diverse characteristics and control systems this is virtual impossibility to create joy profile suitable for all! Some of them do not have all trims, others have automatic CEM management (no mixture, pitch manual control) etc.
