@ this price I can't think of a good reason not to.

I know it is not too popular on here but I like it. The weather and navigation alone are worth the price.

The flight dynamics of the default planes are boring, however some add-on planes (like the freeware Howard 500 and Payware 727) are fantastic.

I disagree I think the MS civilian sim is in fact quite popular even with this crowd. Don't let the never-ending CFS3 vs. FB threads fool you. You are right that it benefits from the great addons available, and the weather effects, scenery are great.

Nice to try out the downloadable AC´s,but I guess it´s not really for me.I tend to get a bit bored just flying straight ahead.

M$ Flight sim doesnt have a g limiter device, you can exceed 400 knots and pull back on the stick and you go vertical fairly quickly and can snap off the wings. Especially when flying a F18 hornet. The game after 9 revisions should be twice as good as Olegs sims. Oleg has far surpassed microsofts dedication in the flight sim world, thus proving you dont have to be top dog to create a great sim.

Nice catch, that's what I did for the first two CFS's. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif and got 2002 used for $2.99 USD.

You know, if they just made a mod for MSFS 2004, so you could shoot, you could have a pretty darn good sim.

Circuit City has it for $20, excluding shipping. With the rebate, you get the simulator for free. (just pay tax/shipping). If you order over $25, you get free shipping.

I got FS2004 for $20, well worth the price. The default planes are not terribly interesting but there are lots of high quality free addon planes availible to it. And while the flight models themselves arn't any better than in PF (arn't any worse either), you do get things like ATC, navigation, CEM and weather modeled much better. In short, if you are one of those people who likes to occasionally take up "insertfavoriteplanehere" and cruise around Berlin or some other highly detailed map just to look around, FS2004 is $20 well spent. If you want something with lots of action and shooting then FS2004 is a really bad choice cause there is little action and absolutely no shooting.

I have it, but i never play it. In fact it in not even installed anymore. It doesn't 'feel' right. It never feels like I am flying. It always feels like I am fighting the plane to go in the direction I want. It always feels like I am sitting on top of a big inflated rubber ball or something... I think it is really poor flight dynamics. I've never liked it even since the early days.

I feel the opposite...

This series is dull to fly because the planes are on rails. The only way to get environmental effects is to play in a thunderstorm. There is zero wake effect. Torque is spam, and so is spins/stalls (spam, as in canned, and in too much quantity).
