He heh, I've seen worse. I usually clean mine about every three weeks.

Wow, I betcha that CPU was getting roasty toasty under full load.

I clean the dust out of my computer every time I upgrade some piece of hardware; which seems to be about every month or two these days.

My room is a dust factory. I have to clean it every month, and still I can't take out all of it. I think my GFX card is giving me trouble because of it. To make things worse, high ambient temperature does not help at all.

The worst side effect being increased noise.

Can be quite irritating.

I refurbished a mate's PC and handed him a medium-sized envelope of dust, fluff and resin a long with a bill for necessary sundries.

The guy's a chain-smoker and I spent most of my time scraping deposits of tar & the rest off of fan-blades and filters. The heatsink I put straight through the dishwasher on a pan-cycle!

I had to extract the motherboard and empty the case before I wiped all the insides with surgical spirit. The inside looked like the walls of the public bar of the Dog and Duck, circa 1960. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

In the end I had to replace three fans entirely, re-seat the heat-sink, and generally try to strip away the horrid brown film that had settled everywhere. Very nasty.

My friend complained when I told him! Now I've just finished a new rig for him but I'm reluctant to deliver. Ah, the bachelor's life.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

you can pick up filter material for AC returns in uncut form or even at your local aquarium supply and place in between the fan and bezel on the case. it may cut down on the flow somewhat but are easier to remove and replace than disassembling the entire case to clean...

my pc suddenly began to smell and the Cooler began to sound wierd.

after my pc broke down totally i opened it and found out that Dust had blocked the Cooler fan and the wierd sound was the fan Trying to swing trough the dust piles.

the smell was the overheated CPU roasting Glue

I miss Megile saying something about Rose McGowan's heatsink. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
