Had to surface during heavy fog to charge the batteries, a DD caught me and I was shelled, rammed, and DCed all within about 30 seconds. Then sank to about 50m with heavy stern flooding; with 18% hull integrity that must've been close to crush depth. Got the flooding under control with seconds to spare and tried to go to 20m depth -- I say tried because I was still down by the stern so the bow broached and I got depth charged again.

I guess that was my payback for surfacing right in the middle of a convoy at night in the same heavy fog and getting 3 gun kills before the escorts woke up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi
Revenge is sweet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif that is for you to learn not to surface on the middle of a convoy like if you were a king and kill everybody and not get kill yourself http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Ahh yes... I just had my first "sitting duck" ambush experience. I had been stalking a conoy in darkness and came up within targeting distance.

Of perhaps 12 targets I noticed a C3 sitting dead in the water. That alone should have awakened me to the danger, but I got over confident and thought I could get a shot off before anyone could react. No sooner had I loosed a torpedo at the inert target than there
was the crack of a main gun in the darkness. The first shot did not strike, but the second one hit the conning tower. By this time I was in the chaos of a crash dive, and had thrown the rudder to full starboard and went to ahead full.

A circling target is hard to hit but the damage was done. I got things under control at 50 meters, and got the leaks stopped. I did manage to hit a tanker before the dd's drove me off completely, but I'll tell you; It wasn't boring!
