I THINK THIS PREVIEW IS RELATIVELY NEW & CONTAINS SCREENSHOTS I HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE...ALL IN ALL SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY BALANCED PIECE , ALTHOUGH STILL CONTAINS NO RELEASE DATE:

Seems nice....... its all in the flying though.... whats wrong with this picture:

http://www.simhq.com/_air4/images/air_145a_025t550.jpg

I'll just wait for BoB from 1C. I barely have enough time for FB let alone getting sucked into another sim... although I doubt the FMs will be as good as these.

Grapahics seem cool, and they have realistic airbase layouts and ground textures which increases immersion 10 fold.

I might buy this, if I get time to paly in between IL2, LOMAC FC, Falcon4:AF and WW2OL

I wonder how the Flight Model will be... can't be any worse than IL2 I expect.

Most likely scenario:

I will by this BoB II deal, play it for about a week, then go back to IL-2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif That CFS3 CD I bought makes a good coaster.

The cockpits do look fantastic. At least that 109E does. It's extrememly disappointing that there is no multiplayer option, however. ...this is a deal breaker for me.

IL2 is the best. Im still trying to get better at it so i dont want this other sim. I can wait for the real BofB by 1C to come out. It will be worth it. Also, am i alone in thinkin the cockpits are just too new looking... all shiny and stuff, wheres the scratches and customised instrument panel, i cant fly without a pic of my missus up ha ha.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif i wont be buying this game, mostly caus its not online.

I'm warming to this product....I may not buy it right away (short on cash and in need of other things ATM) but I may just pick it up.

Not enough X factor, merged version of FB+AEP+PF is still way ahead and 1C's BoB will be way better IMO.I'll wait till January 2006 for it as amazon.com quats ubisoft and opend preorder channel.

Cheers

I can only comment on graphics which is close to CFS3,at least it makes such an impression. And I don`t like CFS3 engine.

Doesn`t sound like a game that I`d want t split my gaming time with.Playing four games currently.

That Emil cockpit comarement made me laugh. Then again I`m IL2 biased.

Well I'm interested. Won't buy it straight away, though - gotta check out the reviews and whatnot 1st!

But to me, FMs are where it's at. Graphics count waaaay less...

I am not sure why many people claim outstanding graphics... still doesn`t match this

Fanboy stuff aside, this is mid 2005 and still can`t match 1999 sim even with double of polly`s. What`s with that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Jesus you guys really do think the IL2 series is all that don't you!!!

IT HAS THE WORST DYNAMIC CAMPAIGN SYSTEM EVER INCORPORATED INTO ANY FLIGHTSIM EVER.

At least this rebuild of BoB will have a single player mode to be proud off and for 95 percent of sim purchasers that is all that counts.

Oh and Ivan, please try to remember that PF, FB and AEP are ALL improved versions of the original IL2 engine which looks very dated by todays standards. If it is good enough for the IL2 series to use an updated version of an old outdated graphics engine then why pass remarks at BoBII for doing the same. You want to laugh at some poor graphics, I suggest you load up the New Guinea map and prepare to roll around laughing at the so called Owen Stanley mountains ROFL

We can also count on BoBII to have a very decent ingame AI comms system that the AI actually listen to, not the joke worthless waste of space comms included in PF!

Attack ships... Unable .... ****!
Attack ships... Unable .... ****!
Attack ships... Unable .... ****!
Attack ships... Unable .... ****!

I'll do it myself then shall I!

If Oleg doesnt fix the woefully poor campaign system and totaly worthless AI comms for BOB then it deserves to flop completely.

Is it going to be fully 6DOF with the TIR3 Vector?

I picked up the original Rowans BoB for about $10 dollars around 3 or 4 years ago, about 6 months before I started playing IL2. Since I got hooked by IL2 I have flirted with other games, namely CFS 2 and 3, but IL2 always seemed to draw me back.

For me it has never been about playing one game or mastering one sim. I am a WW2 aviation nut, I fly these games because I love the planes that they attempt to simulate. Yes, I'm an IL2 fanboy, an unashamed one at that, but more than that I'm an aviation fanboy.

So for me buying the new BoB is something of a no-brainer. In fact I would think it would be for most of us here. Afterall we fly this game because we love the planes, right?

The positives seem to be;

1) It is a theatre uncovered by the Il2 serise.
2) It looks like it has an excellent campaign system (something still a little lacking in IL2).
3) Updated graphics, the cockpits do look excelent (even with the revi's floating off the glass) as do a lot of the ground effects
4) It will provide an excellent warm up for BoB; Cliffs of Dover (or whatever it will be called)
5) No multiplayer means that it wont dislodge IL2 at Hyperlobby.

The only downsides I can see is the lack of multiplayer. However, as a 90% offline simmer, that doesn't worry me that much.

Ill pick it up if the campaighn is any good. Lookswise it looks good enough to me. Doesnt look great but that doesnt matter imo.

Give me a good bob campaighn. A good flight model. And they'll have my money.

Yes..

If you look around these boards you will see that a lot of people have lot of experience of other sims, without wishing to sound large headed, myself included.

I promise you I am a complete "*****" when it comes to my gaming and will try anything once, sometimes twice..

The IL2 series just has something the others do not imho,,,

Any takers on what that is..

Unfortunately I totally agree with this statement,
it really is a disgrace. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

And I love this sim.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The proof is in the pudding,so when someone buys it,flies it and gives us an UNBIASED FACTUAL report then i will make a decision.
I could'nt get on with the original Rowans B o B but i hope this may fill a void.

I totally agree with ICD.

We are all here I would think because we love WW2 aviation. Any new sim can only be good for us all so why knock it? There are not that many new or redone WW2 sims being developed.

I love IL2 but that does not mean I would not be open to something with a bit more to offer for offline play. I also like BOB as one of my favorite air battles. And need something to keep me entertained (at least untill Oleg's BOB comes out.) The Fact that it is a redone game does not bother me. HELLO? What is FB, AEP, and Pacific Fighters but an upgraded Il2?

The negativity on this forum, sometimes even about IL2, never ceases to amaze me. I suggest we all enjpoy the great work Oleg has done and enjoy any other good sims that come along and be thankfull that they are still bein developed for our little niche of computer gaming.

One thing which Rowan's BoB did very well was this:

http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/394_1116857530_25.jpg

Although you cant see it all, there's 216 aircraft in the air in total, so I'll be getting BoBII; WoV to see how this could have been enhanced. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The thing that will kill GMX's offering, however, is the total lack of multiplay in the package; something which even Rowan's badly flawed title offered.

Compared to 1c, Rowan's flight models were a bit too lively for my understanding of the physics of flight. I may be wrong, and maybe GMX will address what I felt was a shortcoming. If not, you may have to learn to fly all over again to get the best out of this title.

BUT.

To me the essence of the Battle of Britain was the fact that LARGE formations were in the air over Southern England in the summer of 1940. I look at the incredible detail which has been displayed in the screenshots for 1C's offering, and I can't help but wonder if we'll see those massive formations when Oleg's baby hits the shelves.

If not, 1C's offering will have missed the whole point.

But if 1C can pull it off, with the detail so far shown, coupled with the nature of the action above Southern England back then, Microsoft may as well concentrate on its Golf Sims, because there NO WAY IN HELL it would be able to nudge 1C off its pedestal as THE producer of WW2 Combat Flight Simulation.
