First time I tried out a Me-262 last night. Liked the speed but struggled in hitting targets, even bombers. Don't have a gun cross to start off with. Is that something I need to change in the settings? Futhermore the guns seemed to have been very inaccurate. Spraying all over the place. (Sounds like a prostrate problem, Haha). Lastly the flashes of the guns are so distracting that I can't always see whether I was hitting the target or not. Might have been because it was well past midnight when I was still flying.
But hell, I still like the speed and the results when I did actually hit the targets. Hit a fighter at 90 degree angle (due to skill of course) and the effects was superb.

ctrl + F1 for the gun sight.

The guns are deadly, just practice your shooting.

Isn't it Shift-F1? BTW, I don't use gunsight in Me262A1 at all (unless sniping at longer distances, which is futile with 108 anyway http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif). The aiming point is set so perfectly in the middle of the windscreen that you get the feeling for it rather quickly. Shoot only at point blank range, only one press of a trigger and evade. Aiming without sight also allows for fantastic deflection shooting.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif LOL...this is the oldest problem new pilots find with German planes (I am assuming of course you are new to this sim...forgive me if your not). Most, if not all, gunsights in German fighters were placed off center, you need to press SHIFT-F1 to bring up the gunsight to the centre view. This should also fix the inaccuracy your finding when firing (BTW: Not making fun of you...I just find the Shift-F1 thingy funny http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)

This is an issue for earlier versions of the sim where the flash bitmaps were a tad too large, what flavour of IL-2 are you using?

Well the Me-262's packed a powerful punch, 4x30mm Mk108 cannons, would be like cutting butter with a hot knife http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Apologies for only replying now Codex. I was away during the weekend.

No,
I have been playing this sim for quite some time but I shelved it at one point and moved on to other things. I still fly with Forgotten Battles and is now waiting for 1946 to get to our shores. Must admit that long time ago I got quite fond of the Me-109G and haven't really flown anything else. I am aware about the gunsights being off-centred but have never flown the Me-262 before and I must admit that I must have overlooked that thought. Like I said in my original posting, it was well past midnight when I gave it a try.

"(BTW: Not making fun of you...I just find the Shift-F1 thingy funny )"

Not to worry, I didn't take it the wrong way. I like some humour as well and it is always good to have a good laugh, even when it is sometimes about myself.

Cheers

Cheers mate...well if your flying FB still then I think it is the textures issue causing you grief with not being able to see if your scoring hits. I don't recall exactly but I think the muzzle flash textures were reduced in AEP or a patch after AEP.

I think it's kind of easier to shoot without the gunsight in the 262. Just use the cockpit framing as reference.

Yeah, but pulling away after doing that in a Me-262 might be a little...um..."hard". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Nose mounted Mk 108s are sniper rounds, easily reaching out well beyond 500 meters and hitting were you want them too. I love flying BF-110s against Hurricanes. Getting them in a head on and firing well beyond their range and watching them explode.

You just need a bit of practice. MK108 is the most accurate round in the game. At least in my 5+ years experience.
