Is there a way to padlock a ship? Because if there is I can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

Is normal ground target lock works?

I can lock on a tank, but not a boat.

But I will try again.

Sometimes F7 will work (exterior view only).

I tried to padlock a ship on Pacific Island map with F7.
It didn't worked....don't know whyhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Externals were enabled, padlock too, and F7 (default) is command for "External Padlock Enemy Ground".

I might have been mistaken; also maybe I've padlocked onto other objects when in port.

But it's weird......it is logical to assume that we can padlock ships.....or perhaps we do something wrong?

Strangely enough, in IL-2's original release, padlocking ships from the cockpit was possible. As I recall, this feature was removed after the 1st add-on and I use to gripe about it all the time. I just assumed that they would correct this obvious mistake and re-implement this feature. Didn't happen and God knows why.

As far as I know, it does work.

('Straight and true' had me using it lots of times. )

Maybe we're trying it while we're up too high?

Too far away from to the enemy ground target?

It DOES work, you just have to be fairly close to the ship, and it only works from the outside (F2). Go to quick mission builder, load the coral sea map, and fly to the enemy fleet. Keep pressing F7 until it finally locks. You do have to be close for it to work, but it DOES work. And don't tell me it doesn't because I do it regularly.

Yea you're right tried it this evening. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Problem is that it does NOT work from inside the cockpit. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif Which kind of sucks but is not that important anyway.

Now picture that... padlock ground target from inside cockpit...

Have you tried it while flying upside down? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Ummm you can padlock ground (not ship) objects from inside the cockpit you get a little green triangle above them. Don't make me out to be the fool with your username. Screenshot coming.

I wasn't trying to...

Why upside down? Me thinks the target should be in visible range from within cockpit... Flying upside down will increase that range significantly in most aircraft, as them wings won't be blocking the view...

But I may very well be wrong, as usually I have externals on... I like them views http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
