Q1.

I have to do some scanning but want the lines to be single pixle wide. How to set, is the question.

Q2.

These scans then then have to imported into ACAD using the .pcx extension. Is there 'free' software out there that will do the conversion to .dwg, so that one does not have to trace over the lines of the imported pcx.?

I know a descent amount of ACAD, and I dont really think you can scan and import images, because ACAD defines lines as vector equations. I dont think scans could give enough accuracy to create a vector equation for each line, especially if there were curves. I know at least for 3D modeling, it is tough even to import things from one 3D modeler to another without loss of data.

Only chance you have is to first scan & then save in some of the ordinary pixel formats. Then import in ACAD with "image" command and scale (use the "reference" option it to the right scale.

Then just draw you ACAD lines on it like you would be doing a normal ACAD drawing.

Yes Jippo I know that.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Was hoping that someone knew of a 'translating' piece of software that would do the job. There is some out there but the price is http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif.

How about 1 pixel wide line scans - anyway to do that?

You can import using file extensions .wmf, .sat, .eps, .pcx, .tif, .gif, .3ds

The problem is that "digitising" or "vectorising" old drawings is a good business and the applications are very specialised, and yes hugely expensive. I don't know if the is some kind of demo versions available in net. Maybe...

But you have no chance without a third application except PSP and ACAD, sorry.
