This DE folder is made up of Microsoft radio chatter voice files from CFS1 and lots that I recorded. I am not a native German speaker, but I like German and had fun doing this. It goes in samples/Speech, replacing your existing DE folder. Backup!

you know what i'd really like to have. A Set of Voice packs for German, Russian. & Japanese, Ect. that is in English but with really good acents. I know i know it's silly, and might take away somem of the emmertion factor, but it'd just be nice for a change to understand what they are saysing with out haveing that ugly zrcadish text (wich i alway turn off)flashing up on my windscreen.

Sure. But after playing the game up-teen million times over a few years, and hearing all of the .wav files in that time, wouldn't you know from sheer repetition what they are saying?

That's how I learned to speak German. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Alas, mine deutsche ist shietze.

Does this speechpack have subtitles?

Are bailing Germans screaming and panicking like in original speechpack?

Does this speechpack have pilot jargon in it?

Is the line "What the hell?!Stay on leader`s course!" finally gone?

A "Hogan's Heroes" speech pack for the Germans, not a bad idea. Maybe we could get Charlie Chan to do a Japanese version. And ANYTHING to stop that "screaming" over the mike when they're hit.

Nice one, not really German, but really funny:

"Bail out!", for example means "Spring ab!"
You translated it with "Gehen sie hinaus", which means some thing like "go outside".

Also "Ich bin aus munitions heraus." for being out of ammo means - "I come out of/from ammunition."

There also seem to be some wrong statements being mixed up. "You're shooting friendlies" is now "Our fighters are in sight."
For "Pull up!", your speechpack says "I'm heading home."

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Oh, I just realized, there's more mixed up for the other actors. In Actor1, you say "Wollen sie das Feuer auch?" - instead of "Cease fire, you're shooting friendlies." But infact what you say is "Do you want fire, too?" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I know it has mistakes. Like I said, I am not a native German speaker. But maybe there are some .wavs in there that people can use. Amazing to me that after 5 yrs. no Germans have had enough interest or whatever to produce their own.

No worries, it's as you said, you had fun to make it and it is fun to listen.

AFAIK there are several German voicepacks around. I don't know if they are still online, but I'll try to look them up.

You're right. I'm from Texas, not Germany. I deleted it. If y'all are interested you can plug in a mic and open Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder.

File/New hit record--speak--hit stop.
Then File/Save as save it in DE folder.

Then File/Open File/Properties/Convert Now/Format choose MPEG Layer-3/Attributes--I used 20 KBit/s, 11,025 Hz, Mono 2 kb/sec

Then File/Save as--paste the existing game name of the .wav file and save it in the appropriate Actor folder.

Several of the sounds can be copied from Actor 1 to Actors 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Something is wrong because I cannot download the file. There are now mirrors available. Can someone help a fella out?

Now there is a scary thought. I can see myself in Berlin wanting to ask where I could get a good meal or a good hotel but instead saying things like "There's traffic on the runway. Abort! Abort!" or "What the h e l l, stay with your leader!". Best of all, "ARRGH! STOP IT!".
I wonder how long it would take for them to throw me in the loony bin?

I learned German from the first Call of Duty game on the original Playstation, too! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif It was from those "Conversational German for the American GI" intermissions after the game loads the opening introductions:

Sorry for the funky spelling and grammar.

"Ihre pepire, bitte."

"Versiehung! Aber sie haben ihre grenate vergessen!"

"Der Amerikana hat hundekunden in der tasche!"

"Rendt um heuer leben! Ehre hat ne panzerfaust!"

Yep, I'm a regular Deutsche wordsmith now. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

BW, if I can make a suggestion - Each individual Actor folder represents a seperate pilot. Because of this, it is important to keep the same voice actors in their own folders. At the moment you have 3 separate people voicing each individual pilot. The game engine strings the samples together to construct sentences, but the samples are made up of diferent voices.
It might be a good idea to separate the right voices into their own folders. They won't be quite so chatty. But less is often more where speech packs are concerned.

Link doesn't work nor in the Internet Explorer nor in Mozilla Firefox... where did you uploaded it? I tried searching for "Voice Packs" but there is only "Russian Female Voice Pack".

WTF?
Where did the others downloaded it from, I wonder...

Hope it does get linked correctly.

Any chance of using the same source for the RAF and USAAF as I've always maintained these were superior to those in IL2.

Might be giving it a few tweaks before putting it back up again. Certainly on the right track though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Constructing individual voice packs is so much easier and cheaper than making a skin template for example. I'm amazed there are not more people making them. Not to mention payware versions too.
