View Full Version : Very Irritating...AEP release date

This AEP release is damn irritating! It has already been released in the US but here in UK we are still waiting and we don't even have a proper release date! Some sites say the 12 March, others the 19 March...which is it??? Everyone is talking about how good/bad it is and we in the UK dont even get a look-in!! For God sake why have they not been released at the same time?? Why is there a delay??...What happens in a week or two when every online server is version 2.0 and we in the UK are still 1.22??

I don't mean to complain so much, but I can't wait for AEP to be released and it seems unfair that the US get it before we do! If it was a question of waiting a few days, there wouldn't be a problem, but the best part of a month!!!?? What the hell is going on!! Surely I'm not the only person in the UK who thinks this? Tell me what you think.

The original FB release was the same. Something to do with it taking longer for the European production facilities to get from receiving the master discs to having enough product to ship to stores for FB, probably the same reason this time around.

It does seem a little silly when AEP is more for the online market. Thats the impression I get from most who have it around here.

Well why don`t they learn from the first time? They`re like those dumb tigers in that thread that just kept being hit by the Monkey over and over again and too stupid to improve the situation or go!

Yeah, indeed it sucks but I'm afraid there's nothing we can do.
I think UBI management is idiotic when doing succh decisions. In fact I'm 100% sure. I would like to see one thing. They release a game on a continent (noot necessary America) and one month later they will do it for the rest of the world. But by that time nobody will buy them just because everybody dnlded a cracked version from kazaa or warez , you name it. That should teach them a lesson. However , I think with IL2 things are different since there's already a good base of simmeers in love with Oleg's work (like I am). For those , waiting is frustrating , but they will still buy it. Just my 0.02eur

Does anyone have the exact release date though? Is it 19th or 12th???

I will download AEP, as most europians will do. Will buy AEP but I am sure allot don't bother when they have it (downloaded).

Not very wise from UBI to have different release dates.

Maybe I'm thinkin of something else, but don't games have to be reviewed by some european comitee or something before being put on the market? Maybe that is what causes the delay?

One of the best things ubi could do to stamp out piracy, is to make the game available in Europe and America at the same time.

Sounds interesting.

Iâ've never heard of a European committee that reviews video games.

You donâ't have a link do you?

Personally, I'd love to see what would happen if the game came out a week earlier in Britain that it did in Germany, and a week and a half before it came out in France.

Easy to understand the frustration in Europe. This forum is brimming with accolades and complaints about AEP...and many ppl haven't even seen decent screenshots yet.

Well, I'm in the U.S. (west coast) and pre-ordered. The package hasn't arrived yet. Soon, I hope.

Your making an assumption the release has been wide throughout all North America, that's wrong. Only EB stores seem to have it, and they don't cover nearly the entire NA area. There's still huge areas that haven't seen it, will not see it until well into next week.

Looks like they're still cranking the packaging out, going to be a while. I don't expect to see a box earlier than Monday.

Dated material...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/computergames/story/0,11500,866278,00.html

From the text:
From April all computer games sold in the EU will carry the new classifications. Those with no violent content or sex will be rated 3+, indicating the age from which they can be played. There will also be classifications of 7+, 12+, 16+ and 18+.

Computer games which are so violent they fall outside the new code will be regulated by the British Board of Film Classification and could be banned. Selling a banned game will lead to unlimited fines and possible imprisonment.

Searching google has not turned up the name of the governing body. Maybe someone else knows, or has the time to research it.

I just got my copy of AEP today(the 4th and it's my b-day present to me) up here in Northern "By God" New York. EB received 5 copies and I got the 1st one out of the shipment. Walley World(WalMart) didn't have a one on the shelves.

Lots of feedback...but not an answer to my question...does anyone know what the UK release date is? 12th March or 19th March?? I'm eager to know 'cos the site I preordered from says the 19th...but other sites say the 12th..and if its the 12th, I will cancel my order.

HarryVoyager

I think the answer is none of us have a clue. I was trying to track down a copy here, and the local Gamestop says it doesn't come out until Tuesday, EB said they came out yesterday, but they aren't going to carry them, and Walmart doesn't even know UbiSoft exists.

Hence my earlier comment: "I wonder what would happen if they had this sort of release in Europe."

I live in the US. My friend bought his copy thursday at EB, then only copy they stocked. I went to Gamestop and they said it doesn't release until tuesday, so I laughed and reserved my copy for tuesday.

Why don't they have facilities for downloading the games we have pre-ordered as they do for other types of software? Does it have to do with anti -piracy security or authentication, (you know, having the disc in the drive in order to load the game)?

I would be delighted to avoid more plastic and paper packaging if they could do this and it would allow a concurrent release date internationally. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I totally agree with you there!! This is the 21st century isn't it? So why can't we just pay up and download??? I Really Really REALLY hope the release date is not the 19th because I am getting SOOOOO frustrated reading all the posts on here saying how good AEP is!! I WANT IT NOWWWWWWW!!!! I don't wanna read about it, I wanna play!!

I'd cancel the order anyway since it is a pre-order and especially if you paid for it with plastic. They're mates in the US that pre-ordered and still don't have their copy. If I were a rich man, I'd buy a copy and send it to you over night. I'm feelin' for you all over in the UK. Hang in there! S!

I wonder how much it would be to ship it from the US overnight?? I'm gonna get AEP the day its released anyway...if it doesn't arrive like promised on the day, I'm gonna buy it from a local shop. Then I can sell the pre-ordered copy to a friend. I will have it the moment its here!!

Anyone know of a US site that I can buy AEP from and have it delivered within a couple of days?? Amazon won't ship games to Europe so it can't be them. I'm willing to pay through the nose as I'm that desperate to have it!

I was going to try to make it until tomorrow to see if it were delivered, but I think I'll have to cave, go shopping and give my brother the extra copy.

I would think any copies sold through the Ubi store would be considerably more profitable to Ubi since it eliminates the retailer and his margin. Since they are the distributor and have control over the release date, why not make the extra profit off of pre-orders and send them out a few days early? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gifops: Why not use the release date to their and our advantage?

I sell a few music CD's and I would relish making the extra chesse on pre-orders of this magnitude. Ubi, I believe you are leaving the cheese on the table, lads. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As a software developer I can understand the frustration from Europeans but I also know what it is like to try and sell software in Europe.

It's a freaking nightmare to do the various paperwork involved. It's better since the forming of the EU but many countries have so much labor union crap to wade through it gets ridiculous. Trying to negotiate a distribution partner is painful at best--everybody wants their cut, which is fine but they seem to like to sit on the paperwork forever. Germany is the easiest. England and France are the worst.

God help you if you are trying to sell software into France that contains encryption. I'm not talking about the US export on encryption stuff--that's a one page doc to file--I'm talking France's freaking booklet you have to fill out and even then they hold it for 4 months.

Even Asia is easier to get imports in place than Europe.

The Euros aren't missing much from the early release in America as far as the online crowd are concerned due to the delayed release of the dedicated server for Aces. I know this is little consolation and yes it's easy for me to say because I have it. I don't know the criteria UBI uses to justify the staggered release, but it does seems a bit silly.

Nonetheless, March 12th or the 19th...it's only a week or so away.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Ubi fcked it up pretty well at least on the CE European market. I've been looking for pre-ordering opportunities or for release dates in CE Europe and all I found was a couple of pirates already selling illegal copies of AEP. I know the situation here and I dare to say that they are loosing lots money every day to them.

Im very confused now, Tradition (EB games)who had AEP listed for release 12th march, just changed their info to 19th. Gamesmix on the other hand had release listed for 19th just changed their info to 12th??? They even have it on the front page amongst "releases of the week!" Guess ill know on friday. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

One thing is for sure.Ubi shot themselves in the foot for the second time.Making the same mistake twice is just stupid.

They could have waited with the US release so the whoe community could have got it in the time range of a week.

I wonder how many $ did Ubi already lose....
