Put 3 torpedoes into a T3...it is blazing for a third of it's length forrard and listing heavily.I had expected to see it go down...but now with no torpedoes left I have followed it for 140 klms at 1 knot waiting for the 7 wind speed to drop so I can use the gun...which is not happening GRRRRRR

Greetings,

There are a couple of things that you can do to help her sink. I warn you now that trying to ram her usually does not work. This I learned from experience after being frustrated as you seem to be.

Set your torpedo depth to striker her low under the keel. This will help her take on water and quite possibly break her back.

You can set torp depth high (1 meter or as close to surface running) and try to aim for the fuel bunkers. This really blasts them apart.

Do you know that if you get very close (500 meter or so)and are as close to 90 degrees of her, open the recognition manual to the proper ship, the ammo and fuel bunkers, etc. will be highlighted. You may then select exactly where you want to target her. Try it.

I have seen success using a single fish with these techniques. I rarely have to use more than two fish to send her down.

These are things that I learned here on the forum as well as a couple of years worth of play and practice.

Best of Luck.

This situation has happened to me many times. Just remember DO NOT SAVE and EXIT game while chasing a crippled ship.

When you re-load the save game it will not recognise you as being the cause of it's sinking UNLESS you add to its troubles to hasten its sinking.

I tailed a limping T3 at 1kn for eight hours but had to save. When I re-loaded the sea was still too rough to use the deck gun. It sank suddenly about thirty minutes into the restarted game and I didn't get the tonnage credit! My own fault, forgot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I have been able to sink a ship by ramming twice... Both times it was a small merchant.

When I tried ramming a T3 once (it was low in the water), the boat managed to get on top of it and then it got stuck.

So I ended up with a boat balancing on the T3's deck in the middle of an inferno. My flak gunner didn't seem to mind the flames, though.

I had a screenshot, but it was horrible, I think I have deleted it.

Bottom line, you should probably let that one go and get it next patrol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you have the chance, read some of the earlier Noob Patrol stories by Psychfilm. He has been hunting an annoying C2 with an even more annoying captain for several episodes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hey Foe!

When you were stuck on top of the T3 were you able to get off of it safely or did your sub break apart? Sorry, but I must have more of that story. Did they open fire on you while there? What kind of damage did you receive? Any info? Sounds like a great story.

As I stated before I did more to damage myself whenever I ram a vessel, but based on your statement I might consider it more often than not.

Can't wait to hear more.
