Hello all,

I'm having problems with online flying. I'm not a new to online flying, I started back when Warbirds first started, and others. I'm still kinda new to this sim, but felt I could have more fun online then the usual "canned" missions. When I log onto hyperlobby, there is a ton of dogfights going on, I pick one, and head in. Most have the settings to "full real" which if fine by me, but I can't seem to tell friend from foe. I don't want to shoot down a friendly, but I'm having a terrible time trying to tell who's who, buy the time I get close enough to see any markings...too late ;-)

If this were country vs country, it would be easier, but since both sides can fly whatever A/C ... I just can't figure it out. Any idea's? I have a 21 inch monitor, and my eyes aren't that bad...yet.

On a second note, I see plenty of squads to join, and most offer online flying & tactics help, which is great! Is there any squad vs squad matches? Other the just a big dogfight I mean. Yes it is fun, but I'd like to see other types too. Like using a dozen or so bombers with escort to capture an enemy airbase. Maybe a 20 minute session with one life only...get shout down and sit out till the next session. Things like that. I'm not suggestion to change the sim "Warbirds" or "Air Warrior", I'd just like more variety...ya know/

Thanks all & cya online... I'll be the one on fire ;-)

You need to find a new server. I suggest WarClouds ( www.war-clouds.com (http://www.war-clouds.com) for info).

Any server that isn't Axis vs Allies is worthless IMO. Also, even if the server has icons on you can toggle them off at your end so you may have been flying in servers with icons but had them turned off (don't ask me how I know this).

Thanks Outlaw. I knew about the icon thingy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'd prefer not to use it though...kinda feels like cheating in a way. I will check out the link too... thanks again

I know your feeling.

But i think its all down to practice. After a while (without seeing the markings) you can start to pick out differences in the shape of the craft that will tell friend from foe. When you have more prctice you will find that you use this method a lot more and can tell from further out. I still have problems identifying, but that is part of flying full real. You just got to confirm and that can be hard to do.

Other factors to help you know if it is an enemy.

1. Its shooting back at you
