been flying the 9m abit onwhine, lovely plane wid 37mm http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
but it only has 1 12.7mg, many sources state 2 mg's or "1 additional mg gun". others say only 1 12.7mg http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
maybe some had only 1 mg, but later 2 where added?. be nice to have the extra firepower tho http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

also any chance of a yak9DD (uber long range), yak9PD (high alt reduced armament)

yak9P (has bombracks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif) (some had 23mm cannon aswell)

some yak3's where tried with 37mm and 45mm too it seems http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I think the 9M came in a number of versions. Its essentially a 9D but with some modifications that simplified the production process and changed some of the components to make it more compatible with ramping up production on newer models. Sort of a stop-gap production model.

I like the 9M however...and the 37mm cannon option is cool. Few people seem to even know it exists in the game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

yeah http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

not sure if it has the extra fuel of the D tho.

id expect 1 12.7 on the 37mm cannon, but 2 with the 20mm

Most people, when going for firepower, like the 45mm cannon on the Yak-9K. It is so powerful that if you are traveling at 600kph when you fire the gun, it will effectively slow you down to 400kph. However, I would always appreciate more Yak versions, though I'd prefer the late style canopy Yak-1. Because of a shortage of plexiglass, the rear portion of the cockpit had windows instead of a fully transparent top. Like this:

Everything else on the Yak-1 would be the same, just the canopy difference. However, the Yak-9D we already have, that is a long range Yak.

Yes the Yak-9D is a long range fighter...the Yak-9DD is an extra long range fighter with only the 20mm ShVAK mounted and more fuel.

These were used to escort the B-17 flights as they arrived in Russian territory.

DD wouldnt be used much, tobe fair
9m's 37 is more userfriendly than the 45mm, and still packs a deadly punch

yak9m is not essentially a yak9d,it's more a yak9t with a 20mm gun in fact because he had the same center of gravity with the pilot position not as much in the front as yak9d

I've read that there was a slow process of changes in designs that occured in the factories with the cockpit being moved, the radiatior being moved, etc.

Some Yak-9D's were exactly the same as the 9T or 9M. So thats why I say what I said http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think the 9M was actually a consolidation of a number of modifications into a single spec for mass production.
