In a way true , but I think we like more exitement and competition.

I wish Hitler and Stalin had this kind of game simulations... Maybe the history could have been diffrerent.

After a good fight with enemy you can meet and go to have beer together. Even they are other nationality http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It's traumatic not to have right toys when you are young , look at my car now. Then you have fullfill your desires , when you become adult , you see http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I don't know about you, but I'm killing pixels.

The Human Being is a violent creature by nature, but this drivel smacks of the 'children learn violence by watching violent things' school of (il)logic.

Every thread about the weapons in the sim are certainly NOT about "killing power". It's about damage potential against an aircraft. There is a big difference. Those posts are complaints about game mechanics and damage models of aircraft, not about the ability of a weapon to kill a human being

This is the most juvenile thread I've seen yet I think. Congratulations.

I play the sim because I have been fascinated with aviation since 1974, when I was three and I got my first toy I can actually recall: a model airplane. WWII era has my favorite planes, and they were used to shoot each other down. I don't play the game to simulate killing things.

Real sport for real men my @ss. Grow up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Hockey is real sport for real men. So is rugby

I personally like to consider all opponents I meet online as people with whom have fun together playing PF.

When somebody shoots me down I think "he's cool!".

Huh???

I play hopeing this is a portal thru time and I'm only forcing these grand birds down so I can go out back and pick them up. Then repair them to play with and fly in my spare time. Then retire off the wealth gained from them. Cause someday you know they will be worth alot of money. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Original poster
Do you know what, you are wrong!
I wish I had a link or some information to give on this but I remember hearing/reading/watching on tv, that only a very small percentage of people in wars actually shoot to kill. It was something to do with making modern armies more effective and being able to train the majority to shoot in this way. It seems that when it comes right down to it the VAST majority of us humans don't actually like killing each other! Methinks the original poster is not developed enough yet as a member of the human race or he is a psychopath!

Thank Heavens most of us grow up.

Anyone got any links/info to the stuff above would be much appreciated.

like others here, i am fascinated by WW2 fighter/bomber planes, in fact i remember my first scale model kit (Fi Storch and it was a real baptism of fire as far as the difficulty level was concerned), then my first airshow at about ten years old (RAF Finningly, near Doncaster (northern England). then came the flight sims, and now i'm having the time of my life (its like a dream come true because i know that i'll never actually get to fly the warbirds in this game).
also the friends i have made and i have made quite a few (as everyone else has i'm sure), all this due to a 'game'. i'm getting the opportunity to meet some of the guys i know from the USA this year at the Duxford airshow (9th-10th July).
so i guess its not for the violence, its for the love of aircraft and the cameraderie we have as virtual pilots (or sad gits, it depends on your viewpoint)

IL2 is not a violent game. your shooting at planes.

FPS games are violent. head shots, arms getting chewed off by monsters etc. theres a big difference.

Hellllllllllllooo Chuck_Older!

Tell to All of us do You drive NON armed aircraft in FB - Why do You need weapons?
To test the durability of the "enemy" aircraft?

What do You like MORE: the old game "Tetris" or shooting at mashines wich You are sure that they are full of human creatures - "enemy" pilots?

About Human nature - I know it quite good!
Modern psichology is my hoby.

Violence is in to nature of the man.
Better ask Yourselve!

How many "kills" You have in FB?
If they are many - You are proud member of this community!

Abbout Me: I feel discomfort when I am shooting online!Do You know Why? Becose may be someone like You is in to the "enemy's" cockpit.
I allways miss the right moment to press the buttons of my joystick when I am online.
That hapehs allways to Trolls.Like me.

If You push the trigger again - just one time in this simulator You will prove my opinion.

Regards to all marksmans in owr great community!

Yeah fishin!

Your wrong Hptm.Keule. We are a very dominent species. Violence has been part of our evolution to help us survive, we can be very good at it! The operative word above in Darwinian terms is "survive". For sure when it comes down to it it's nice to rack up a few kills. I suppose there is an element of "practice" in it. But we dont need to do it now (sic) to survive and especially not in this game, we are having fun and making contact with other people.

Our description of the world says more about us than it does of the real world. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Perhaps its been awhile since somebody has actually experienced violence. For myself, the thought of conjuring the Truth of violence when I'm sitting comfortably in front of a marvelous computer is simply ridiculous.

A desire for demonstrating mastery of the environment, perhaps. Hundreds, if not thousands or more variables in a constant state of flux and you get to pick how to act and see the result. In other words, a game. The misspellings add to the quality of the fishing, I must say!

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm not sure the original poster was very serious.

I've assumed with most here there's an element of good-guy/bad-guy fantasy at least offline, as how I play. Its not serious tho because I enjoy flying German too. But when watching a/c explode I don't enjoy fantasizing people being destroyed, its a kill and an accomplishment in skill defeating the enemy. Still, if some enjoy a simulated violent thrill so what. The underlying satisfaction for me is the never ending challenge necessary for flying simulated combat a/c. Competition, even with AI, has been unending fun which I wouldn't have imagined before flying CFS sims, and for my disposition that's remarkable.

I also agree with a previous poster, if there is any sense of involvement enjoying a gut sensation of gore and violence more likely it would be with some FPS games. Even then it would depend on the individual. There will always be a few who won't keep things in perspective but for most its just an outlet for fun.
