I'm trying to find out as to which campaigns are not randomly mission generated. For example, i started playing the regular IL2 pilot career for Russia 2 days ago, and 16 missions later, I'm either attacking transports, ships or factory's/storage dumps. It seems to be a random set of generated missions.

I'm also playing the early fighter campaign for Finland with a J8A model Fighter, and I'm wondering about this one as well as I'm 8 missions in at the moment. I'd like to avoid playing the campaigns with little variety where it's the same 3 sorties or missions one after another with no variety.

I have IL2 1946 with all add-ons. I do notice the unique campaigns for the various Air Forces like the Unique USSR, Japan and others with distinct names, like Burning bridge for example.

But if there is any other campaigns for Fighter, Bomber or ground attack that aren't just mission generators, I'd greatly appreciate it anyone could fill me in. So far, the P-39 and J8A mission sets seem not to be random generated so far, but thats all i've noticed.

I'd like to get online some day and do formation missions, but first i'd like to gain decent skills before doing so. Thx.

There is an alternate dynamic generator called DCG you can download that does a better job then the built in dgen or if you prefer static campaigns just get yourself over to mission4today and have a search through the missions there, this is the sort of thing you will be looking for ...

here is a more general link:

Hey tehre,
I think the DGen (generated ones) have an sterisk beside their name but can't be too sure.
Probably the surest way is to just read the name. The Dgen ones are always called Fighter 1940 or Bomber 1943. Scripted ones tend to have distinctive names.
Did you know you can download thousands of scripted campaigns?
This LINK (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Home-Campaigns-Missions) is to Mission4Today. You can download user-made campaigns and more. This link is a list of the top 50 downloads there, including utilities, movies etc.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I'm currently playing

Luftwaffe: Afrika Pilot
ANZACS over the Pacific
20th Fighter Group

Among the few other default campaigns. I'm trying to mix things up a bit, and also get a feel for the different aircraft.

I love this game so far after playing for several weeks, and will be a lifetime player/member.

I usually try to play games in they're default versions without mods at first, but i've broken that rule by downloading player made campaigns http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Which i might add are very good, and without mods, a game may die at an early age. I atleast hope the J8A campaign is scripted though, as i believe it's a great start for beginner pilots such as my self.

I'm having a hard time finding a favorite aircraft though that i may eventually use full time in online play.

My favorite aircraft would include a single engine fighter with wing mounted machine guns, nose mounted cannons, or maybe a setup with Cannons on the outer wings, heavy machine guns mid wings, and small or medium caliber guns in the nose. I guess thats why i'm leaning towards the P-39.

None of the generated J8A are really much fun, you end up chasing bombers that are faster and higher than you forever. there are however some awesome offline user created campaigns for it.

The P39 is a good trainer plane if you have realistic spins enabled.

Are you aware when you start a dgen campaign that you can often change the plane choices in later years at the time you generate the campaign ?

In terms of built in dgen campaigns I personally believe the 109 JABO (in an Emil with bombs) is one of the better ones for beginners.

Most dynamic campaigns are noted in the description as being dynamic. Player made campaigns are additions of content...not really modifications http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anything in this category on Mission4Today.com is a player made scripted campaign that is not dynamic: http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&c=2

There are also dynamic campaigns to check out as well.

Linear
When you click Start they go straight to the briefing screen for the first mission.

Dynamic
When you click Start they go to a screen where you choose start period and aircraft, then you must click Generate to create the first mission.

I flew the finnish career which started with a J8 for ten ops then Hurricane for ten or so then the B239 which lasted till mid 43 then the 109 variants. It is a long career but very rewarding. I found the 239 an excellent aircraft to learn on and the previous types helped me hone my skills. IMO one of the best inbuilt campaign careers.
