I have been reading the book "Boyd : the fighter pilot who changed the art of war" (http://www.amazon.com/Boyd-Fighter-Pilot-Who-Changed/dp/0316881465/ref=sr_1_1/002-5907053-5047239?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190620586&sr=8-1) and thought I might do a little online research into the availability of his essay's. I will not take the time right now to explain why John Boyd's essays may be interesting to you or the undeniable impact he has had on fighter design, military tactics, and the 21st century, but instead will include a few links to a couple of essays on fighter tactics and design...

If you have read these before (or if they have been posted here frequently) I'm sorry for posting redundant links...but if you have not read them or have an interest here they are...

New conception for air-to-air combat (http://www.d-n-i.net/boyd/pdf/fast_transients.pdf)

and

Aerial Attack Study (http://www.d-n-i.net/boyd/pdf/boydaerialattack.pdf)

These two .pdf's are scans of original material so are somewhat difficult to read, but not imposable. The first essay seems somewhat incomplete, but the ideas presented are quite interesting.

I have also included a link to a Q&A with Boyd...its interesting to see and hear the man speak.

Boyd Q&A Session (http://homepage.mac.com/ace354/Boyd/iMovieTheater39.html)

I hope that some of you find this interesting...
