I recommend Gamespys Call of Duty server:

http://www.planetcallofduty.com/

Normally they will be first with the news, and they follow all mods and total conversions in works.

COD good game till the hackers tore it up.
Hope it wont happen here.
I rarely play any more due to the cheaters....
Better than MOH.
Was a nice relief from flying IL2, COD for awhile, IL2 for awhile, COD and so on

As indicated Punk Buster is in the 1.4 patch. Cheeating doesn't seem to be an issue and I find myself spending 50% of my cumputer time playing COD with the balance devoted to FB and other interest. Someone mentioned that COD was better than MOH - I totally agree which may be why EA decided not to release the scheduled Pacific addon.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

My brother has recently bought CoD . So, I've it installed on my computer and seems to be a great game but it keeps CTD with agp major errors in all settings except in safe mode with very low ones. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

eiffel68,

Turn Fast_Writes off, then try it. That should fix it, I assume you have at least Cat v4.2 loaded.

It's on the SMARTGART tab.

The 1.4 patch is cumulative. That's all you need.

BTW, have you seen the Revolt mod that was just released? It includes modern weapons and pits the Aggressors (US ARMY) versus the Resistance (unknown masked militants). The maps appear to be Mid-Eastern locations. It's a pleasant change. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You can get it here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_5651.shtml

I've already disabled fast write from BIOS, is it the same thing?

I've seen some improvement (I was able to enter the town in Burnville mis. and shoot the flak guy)but the game has crashed again.

I've Cat 4.1 driver maybe the problem lies there.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with the link. It's just a link. Takes you to another site like all the other links. That's what links do.

Can somebody educate me on cheating. I have played Day of Defeat for years, and call of duty recently. I have forever seen cries of cheating, or heard lamentations about the cheating, but I have never seen it myself. Once I saw a guy who could walk through walls, that is pretty obvious. What exactly are the hacks that people use on FPS's?

I just loaded up CoD un-upgraded (out-of-the-box)last night and played the training and the first simple mission. Fantastic, the perfect companion to IL2 FB with AEP. I am waiting for a friend with cable to download the newest patch (1.4) and the Merciless blood mod. I cannot wait...with a little more blood it will be the icing on the cake. This game has little stuff I love, I came back to an area I started in and the bodies of soldiers I had killed were still there...Awesome!!!

Why do games like this not have a "replay" mode in single player? Like in FB where you can watch your tactics back. It would be great to watch the soldiers movements from above and see their strategies.

Anyway, I can't believe I have been playing BF 1942 for so long in single player...it's good and everything...but now I have a squad to get into the choas!

again, great stuff!...it's not FB...but what is?

Cheers and thanks for the discussion.

I just had to come back and say how much fun CoD is! This game really gives the feel of being in a gritty battle. I am even ALLOWED to adjust how many bodies remain laying on the ground!? (I have wanted this for 10 years!) The best way I can describe this is...this game is like reading a great book. I love reading WWII and then going and playing, I do the same with IL2 FB...you can learn so much and realize how brave these guys were. Last night I got trapped in a building...a Hellish firefight inside a building...Fantastic.

Anyone here use the new Merciless blood mod for CoD? I am hoping to get it soon...that's all that's missing from this game is the nightmare of blood. (IMO).

I play IL2 FB in the air and I picture the ground like CoD! Sounds Crazy but it's fun !

CHEERS.

Yeah,
I know buddy. I enjoy the games too. Now and then, I feel a twinge of guilt about enjoying what was a horrific reality to millions of people throughout history. I should ask my grandfathers and great uncles what they think of these games.

That's very true. Wouldn't that be a good read, an interviewer showing some surviving Ace of WWII IL2FB or Pacific Fighters...and reading his reactions to the game.

After reading Robert Johnson's Thunderbolt! I think he would enjoy re-enacting some of his amazing stories.

Do make sure you play on a PRM (Poolmaster's Realism Mod) modded server... much more realistic, it has new features and takes the whole CoD to a whole new level.

Weapons are limited (you only got 2 - 4 automatics per squad), grenades can be cooked, etc. etc.

Thanks! I have been playing through to the Russian missions (Great stuff!)...and other than the kinda weak Brit missions, the ones where you sneak around...ahh...didn't like it compared to all the amazing squad missions. The Stalingrad mission, running up the hill, no rifle....atmosphere!!!

Can't wait for the Merciless blood Mod! - CHEERS.
