I have done this on numerous occasions. Say I sank a ship in more or less shallow water, it broke in half, with both halves pointing up. If there is a destroyer pinging away, I go silent running, and with an external cam guide the boat right in between the two halves. Early in

the war it does wonders, since even if the DD desides to drop wabos, thwy will either miss or explode.... but the ship's hull will protect you from most or all explosions. It is a bit more boring than quietly sneaking away, but it works if you are in no hurry http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I did this as well when I was using externals. I'm not using externals anymore. Another good trick if you think you will get pinged during a convoy attack is to get under a large ship, right under and mimic it's course. It's easily achievable with externals, and the destroyers lose you for sure, and even if they are pinging away they can do nothing. You can choose to dive and sneak away at leisure.

Nice idea, I have done so in the past, another one I tried was to go more less underneath a wounded ship and sit while the Destroyer or corvette goes round in circles, pinging like a madman. They won't drop DC's so near to a ship in case they destroy it by mistake. Soon enough they will give up and catch up wih the rest of the convoy.

The only drawback is when the wounded ship decides to sink, taking you along with it to Davey Jones' locker!!

Mind you, I have seen a destroyer do a depth charge run near a tanker I damaged (it was imobilised), it's Dc's were too close and it promptly blew up!! and I got the credit for the sinking too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
